How about leaving things as is, putting the guy who spent countless of hours maintaining the site, fixing broken links and generally making sure we could all enjoy this site and the community for just what it is? No? Anyone? I can't believe how most simply has this "Oh, so now it's another one in charge - let's move on as if nothing happened". I know this post doesn't add to anything at all either, but hoping people would eventually come to their senses and realize what's going on, proved not to work either.

And I couldn't care a rat's ass if the site didn't evolve the next 5-6 years either! It's all about maintaining the site, and people with the dedication to do so for so long, is probably possible to count by the fingers of one hand. How can people seriously even consider leaving such a great responsibility to someone already proven not to stand the distance? After freakin' 2-3 days?! Sheesh, people! That's it. I'm off to pack for Outline to actively CONTRIBUTE, PARTICIPATE and CARE about this comunity!

why not? pouet is still up, its still blue, there are still trompets in the background. nothing really happened on the surface so why is that hard to understand?

Because he lost access to the backend of pouet.

Actually acces to both backend and frontend.

Just to side-step the obvious flame-bait: you're absolutely right - the site is up, so most people clicking on prods on www.pouet.net have no reason to react.

However. The people who ACTUALLY contribute and care about the site - the people in this thread (well, most of them) - they care. They represent the unheard masses who will only react once thing stop working, or the site slows down, which is a gradual process.

For us, and I consider myself one of them, this takeover just won't be accepted. The fact that the background GIF haven't changed is, as you are of course perfectly aware, completely irrelevant.

Finish v2.0, delete v0.9 open source

best option imho, also what's the point of fixing old code that has already been improved by a newer version? isn't this like deleting 5 years of development? (again no matter how much progress has been made)

All of the interaction I've had with Garg has been positive, he's usually telling me off but....
in the few years I've been here the only admin I've known is him. There are a few decisions he's made which I might question but as someone who volunteers their time & effort for other things myself I can appreciate his input for what it is.

I think analogue knows what must be done. It really just depends on the 2 of them being men enough to apologise, kiss & make up and then get on with the job.

I mean, gargaj seems cool and to be taking all this very well, while all the ppl in the gargaj fanclub, or the nordic conspiricy to bring back that old kitch, with gloom on top, are utterly butthurt. why is this?

Dubmood: if it was an election, I would agree with you. When someone just shoots the actual president in the back of the head and takes over, I would call it something else.

Real presidents always listen to the people and, by that, people trust them.

I can't really offer any viable solutions, but I'd like to say, as others have:

What's happening here is not ok.

Even disregarding the way this went down, analogue is gambling with the future of pouet. What's supposed to happen when he gets tired of toying with it?

of course things are not ok the community members have been split up forced to somewhat an admin side selection...

Honestly, I thought that Analogue got tired of pouet years ago and, when I saw this thread open I assumed that he would collaborate with Gargaj and others just to get pouet 2.0 and the REST API finished.

Then came the ego-clash, his, apparently, lack of trust in others, and all this FTW shit.

Dissapointment.

knoeki, with all due respect, but can you lay off the bloody ponies already? don't you think it's a bit of a childish fixation? and yes, i know about bronies and stuff, but this is not the place to celebrate your fandom, okay? :P

I'm not sure this is an accurate reflection of reality.

First, analogue "is the BDFL here" (his words). He's not entertaining this thought at all (at least not that he has expressed), so why the fuck are we?

Second, is gargaj even interested in coming back at all? A lot of people seem to take that for granted. My motivation would sure as hell be shot right now if I was him.

And why is it suddenly a problem now, and not.. you know, anywhere in the past year?
