I was configuring some playlists in some old times mod player, just to listen to some mods from the 1988/1995 area or so.... anything that sounds soundtrackerish, you know, mod.echoing, mod.snare, etc....
Surprinsingly, I focused my interest on, let's say: 3 peculiar ".mods", you can get this very peculiar playlist here at once in a zip file
What do we got here ?
RSI-hard.mod a classic from romeo knight^RSI, from the very known megademo.
mod.heresya - by mushies^Heresya
- I remember I ripped this from a "iron maiden" slideshow around 1991. Note, the music is *not* an iron maiden cover.
mod.harleymusic - by kevin collier , 1990. May have been ripped from a bitmap font PD collection in the same period.
... so here they are: the heroes that dared to make hardRock/HeavyMetal with paula trackers, and actually, may I say 20 years afters, they did quite well !
As Romeo knight wrote on his website,"rsi-hard sounds quite shitty nowadays.", but that's the point: they may sound shitty, but they're still both fine work with ... peculiar arrangements and they rock enough to make it worth. I like a lot the way they managed to sample guitars and actually got tunes with good feelings.
So... maybe some people will come and remember some examples of other mods from the same period and style. I will certainly be interested.
... Well, I think the music of Bosnik Metal by gigatron would make it , even if it is already 1995
