The split between participants and participantsoff is pretty relevant too.
The list of parties and their compos will contain information on whether a given compo is "standalone" or a combined compo.

Nah, we haven't reached 200 yet, but still I like to consider ourselves a "big small-party" :) Evoke is probably a lot bigger, and I suppose the Finnish / Swedish parties keep a considerable level as well.
What a pointless metric. The thing that really makes a demo-party awesome isn't having a lot of visitors, but having a Skrebbel ukulele/chip-tune live-gig!

Sundown usually gets around 3200 visitors, but most of them don't make it as the roads are very confusing, meaning we actually get around 80/90 people turn up.
There isn't a Sundown this year though, there is something else (ask dotwaffle). Maybe next year?

Important is not the number of visitors, its the feeling you have going there , i had great moments on small parties with 40 to 50 ppl and great moments on BP or TheParty where around 1000 ppl are around.
When it counts ( in my eyes ) if you participate in compos, if you want to know really your skills you must release at a BIG party to compete against biggest teams ... A win at BP Demo or 4k Compo is way more than maybe 2 or 3 1st places on small parties ...
Nowadays there are parties all over the world, i just recommend to visit as much you can and as different as possible ! Sauna in the north, Beers im Bingen, RockBand compos in Budapest, Hugescreen @ cote azur ( including one of the best after pizza partyplaces ), Excellent burgers in holland .... Whenever you can ... go there and enjoy !

Once again, allow me to stress that the list in no way is an attempt to rate the quality of each party. Nor do I believe that larger parties are better than small parties per se.
The list is simply a tool to let people know when the next opportunity to release a given production would be. Then why add the number of atendants and not just the list of competitions, one might ask. Well - as stated before, I think it's important to most who have spent weeks or even months creating a production, to know the size of the ordience for their release. Again - not saying that 100 people dancing and cheering at TRSAC is in anyway worse than 500 people just sitting in a main hall not really paying attention to the bigscreen at huge party.

I'm not sure what the point of the list might be. If you increase the number of attendants at a party, you'll also increase the mass of talent and thus increase the number of releases. In return, an increase in talent increases the competition and thus results in better releases (just do a qualitative and quantitative comparision between break point 2010 and solskogen 2010).
Such analysises are bound to be skewed by local heroes supporting smaller parties with major releases (just look at the great stuff that was releases at summer encounter/scene event parties).

What if you just put the list into a wiki somewhere? Probably the easiest way to accept outside contributions.
i agree. the number of attendants has absolutely nothing to do with the quality or amount of releases. at buenzli we have ~150 visitors (rough avg over the years) but there are years where we had almost as many demos as the revision demo compo had. Then there are years with only 3-4 demos (which is always very sad :( but we always have a lot of fun :)
I also remember visiting evoke which was packed with sceners and almost 0 demos in the compos. but i remember partying like hell :)
sure, it's always disappointing when you're at the climax of a party and there are only some compofilling partycoded entries. but luckily it's not always the case! :)

FWIW, when I was at Büenzli (2010; my first so far) it was very nice, but only like 1/4 of the hall seemed to care about the democompos at all. :-)
@H2O: It's now more like "beers in Saarbrücken" now! ;)
at the first TRSAC in 2001 we had a TBL demo to show our 30 visitors! :)
im sorry that was 2000... how time flies.
Some parties are devoted to some kind of computers (c64, spectrum, atari...) and so lovers of those machines will have more fun there than on 200 popples parties.

From what I am remembering, the competition blocks on Saturday at Buenzli 2010 evening drew a lot of attention to the big screen - especially also for all the "compo lurker" visitors. The best-view-to-the-bigscreen seats in the chill corner were kinda full. Anyway, for the next Buenzli, we'll have a different "compo block schema" and thus hope to attract to the competitions also those that are sitting outside at the bbq ;-)
