Would like to buy a new mp3 player, anybody knows of one with .mod / .xm / .sid / .ym ability?

Rockbox plays .mod and .sid files.

If you want to listen to modules on the go, I might suggest getting something like a Nintendo DS or a Pocket PC and installing a module player on that. I don't think any actual portable music players have support for module files, except with Rockbox.

Also, there's ModBox for the iPod Touch/iPhone, but I haven't tried it.

And there seems to be other mod players in the app store as well.

In general, I definitely recommend an iPod Touch. It's the most fun piece of electronics that I've ever owned.

There's also Droidsound for the Android phones.

Baah: there is an .SC68 player on iPod (better than the .YM format), it's all you need ;)

You can play almost everything on a gp2x using oldplay. This is what I have as an "mp3" player. And you can get games on it too!
Preacher: I dunno, .xm playback seems to be rather limited on the DS. I guess it would be the same for e.g. .it.
I'm using CyberMod on my PocketPC.
Plays MOD, S3M and XM I think.
(The version I got seems to have a freeze-bug though).

The Bassmod Pocket PC test player :D

Considering it is the only PROPER it module player on pocket pc, I think it is worthwhile to have the crudest guis on a pocket pc app.

I'm suprised no one have even tried to improve it.

As for J2ME, there were muxm but considering it had no updates in ages, and the gui is just embed the mod into the player and pray it plays (which it wont, at least on my phone I get 3 seconds of sound), I can safely say there are no mod players for java phones.

Just downloaded this baby for my iPhone 3G and it's actually pretty nice. 0.99 cents for us Americans, so about .69 euro.

Thanks for the advice preacher.
