what i do know is that higher frequencies in hearing are transmitted using many parallel low bandwidth neural paths. so i think they need quite some work to get visual stimuli going. i think a neural path has a bandwidth of 1 kHz or something. but maybe my knowledge is not up-to-date.

I dont like this idea... This can be used for mind manipulation in "far/near" future. That is not good. Maybe holographics or 3d laser projectors will be more interesting for me. Or air-ionic 3d displays. But I know that Sony has similar patents for their upcoming Playstations. I mean sense cell stimulation gaming. I dont like idea that computers will be inside my human body. I will keep my body pure (no chips or biochips or body connection to computer). Of course this is just begining that Eyecandycan. In near future there will be hardware providing whole "own reality" like in movie Avalon and maybe in far far future like Matrix or Darkworld movies was.
This can be used in bad ways. Our own 3D hallucinations. I dont like that idea. It will be great business for somebody. But whole concept is sick...
Like using dead parts (brain ,eyes) for robotics.(check youtube for that rat brain cells using as computer for robots or eyes as cameras... whole cyborg development is sick... or that dead butterfly flying becouse of neural stimulation sick... all is on youtube just look)
