Yeah it's hardly fair to compare today's Fairlight with that of the past, back then the "scenes" weren't seperated like they are now. I mean it was a different time, it was like, 3 days ago...
Hmm ok my bad it was actually a couple of months ago, but still, saying that the two scenes are in no way related anymore is just a blatant lie.

fairlight is a massive beast. what with the cracking group, the c64 demogroup, the pc demogroup, the record label, the beer company, the c64 game, and that synthesiser we made back in the 80s that helped launch jean michel jarre's career. we've been busy! but it's fair to say that over 20 years of history and with such an enormous number of different projects involving different people, things have spread out.
for the benefit of any clueless types around here, or any journalists who might have got here via their new found ability to use google (congratulations guys!), allow me to re-iterate what everyone with any sense around here already knows: nobody in the fairlight demo division is involved in, or has been involved in, or has any knowledge of, any of the illegal activities of the fairlight cracking division. they are two separate groups of people. the connection is based on tradition (the fairlight demo group as you know it today grew out of connections with the c64 demo division), not some sort of sopranos envy.

the article seems well researched and all, but the author seems pretty selective about what to present and how to present it, so in the end it's just a case of shit throwing.

ö: I don't know if someone was talking about that the two scenes are in no way related today ( I wasn't), but I'll make I wild guess: the majority of the people involved in the demo scene are not involved in the part of cracking scene excluding stuff like drawing logos, ansis, coding cracktros, etc.

Zefyros, they did. But that kid wasn't messing around, he was a supplier for INC (International Network of Crackers). THG guys asked to some kid they knew who lived in that other kid's town to do that, but asked him to write "THG" on the brick before throwing it.
