Demos for a Tandy 1000 TL/2?

category: general [glöplog]

So I'm back at my parent's house for Christmas, and just wondering if anyone knows of any demos that would run on a Tandy 1000 TL/2.

Not 100% sure of some of the specs, but it's an IBM compatible with Tandy 1000/PCjr graphics and sound, a 286 processor (not sure how fast), 20 MB hard disk (possibly 40MB, I saw a pamphlet amongst the paraphrenalia that said my parents had bought one of those), 640k RAM, a 720k 3-1/2" floppy drive and a 360k 5-1/4" floppy drive.

As far as I can tell it was a pretty powerful DOS machine for 1988, or whenever it was when we got it. It still seems to work fine, though the mouse is missing a mouseball and the monitor's vertical hold is a bit more shaky. Oh, and it's actually a lot slower and louder than I remembered it being, though it does boot faster than my laptop...

Dowhackado will, if you've got a VGA card in yours: http://www.pouet.net/prod.php?which=3544

No VGA card, and the PwP stuff turned out to not work either.

Though, the disk drive might be dying, since it had problems reading the 3 1/2" floppy when Windows Scandisk said everything was fine.

I should add, I guess, that it's all stored back in the attic and I've gone back to university now.

And btw, I also randomly (in a different place) found the reciept (!) for the computer- cost $1600 (with the upgraded 20 MB hard drive) in 1990, so it wasn't terribly top of the line for the time after all.

I did get some screenshots of Deskmate before I left though.

Oh, and despite the 8 MHz 80286, the Tandy 1000 series was really still an XT-class machine; that might have something to do with why things wouldn't run.

weird that pwp stuff doesnt work cause they should run on XT.

PwP stuff won't work because it requires a 386 -- Tandy 1000 TL/2 was a 286.

Next year, there will be a demo for the Tandy 1000...
