ubuntu coz then it's bootable from live-cd :P
I beleive there is a group of them that are into Arch Linux

I ran into one of them in the linux audio developers IRC channel, he suggested I try it and I did, but it was way too much work to get it ready to use and I got frustrated with it and used Debian (testing) instead.

From what I have read here and in articles and stuff it seems that not very many scene ppl like linux. I like it though so I play with debian, sometimes I mess around with arch or redhat too.

Mind you those aren't suggestions, just my best guess based on things I read online and personal experience, I cannot speak for any sceners because I don't think I count as one unfortunately.

Linux From Scratch, although I didn't get further than halfway when I once tried to build it :-)

You can also talk about other *nix'es.

That's also my opinion... I tried to install gentoo once and it took me 3 hours, and it was still far from being finished, so I've deleted the partition and went back to windows.

Yeah, Gentoo is not for the impatient. If you want your linux up fast, you'll go with Ubuntu or Redhat. But you should remember that linux is good for almost nothing as desktop system :p

Mac OSX then. Prolly Tiger, even tho some lamers still claims Panther is more stable (they are most likely poor bastards without any RAM).

I think both Debian and Ubuntu are fine. The apt package management system is imo really nice.

i ran Debian for a while. I also tinkered with SuSE. I think what I found out was that I have a pathological hatred for linux and unix style operating systems in general.

Although MacOS X does a very good job of hiding its unix roots.

apt-get thingy rules, but apart from that nearly everything else makes me mad.. Esp. copy/paste..How hard can it be to remove that bloody mark == copy mechanism once and for all?

No use for linux for me. But.. OSX, yeah. And cygwin on XP, so I have a terminal that is actually usable in windows ;)
