Rotozoom !!!! i love them ! it's the true revolution. after sinuscroll and before mapping, rotozoom is the link between these two ages.

and radial blur like in Ukonx - MyWorld demo.
Also, I love it when lots of effects are blended on top of eachother and stuff. Can't remember what does that offhand, though. You'll have to fill in urls yourself :)

it's something i've never seen before. quite impressive.

as for the old stuff, pulse/orange/cncd/acme/sunflower/blasphemy have some of the best
effects ive ever seen in their demos.

Chaos' 256x256 pixel 3d-twisting-blabla-roto-zoomer in Roots/Sanity is technically ruling the amiga IMO. Running 50fps on an unexpanded A1200...
Some heavy triggering of the scroll-registers of the amiga and still amazing even when you know how it works.

There are tons of effects that made me go "WOW!" first time I saw it. Some examples:
32 sprite multiplexed D.Y.S.P. in "Larch3/Bones" (C64)
Bitmap rotozoom in "Desert Dream/Kefrens" (Amiga)
Cylinder-spike thing in "Gateways/Trauma" (PC)

digital matrix/legend design had some nice effects... and also morphing.. ;)
not to forget the effects seen in verses/emf, and flight/kosmic.
tunnel effects like in porno/emf and xtal/complex are neat!!
The best effect ever made is when puppiluppan gives the kaktus a yllekofta in Poffelipoffs demo Blomman
