hey, you all graphicians, this is for you :
I suppose most of us have fun in designing nice layered-techno-style images, as seen in several nowadays demos (especially hardware-accelerated ones) ...

We all do this for fun, trying to be as creative as possible. That's the deal : *creative* *for fun*

follow me ? :)

But now, some guys at the market-headquarter though about SELLING this kind of *urban-design-techno-layered-style* images. You may have a look at some examples, and make an opinion :

http://www.digitalvision.fr/index.asp?asp_page=http://www.digitalvision.fr/search/cd_contents.asp?cd_code=371

(hope the links won't be broken by the "famous pouet BBS" :)

So what's the big deal ? We probably should not care about this. My problem is : we spread a lot of abstract-looking-images, trying to emulate Neville Brody's work (for example)... But they gonna replace us with full of quality-pictures-catalog, ready-to-use, now-u-don't-even-need-that-stupid-egotistic-graphician... Hmmm, i shouldn't even care about it, but, pardon me : i think this overall process suxx...

voila :)

Believe me, this whole world suxx bigtime! And when it's about ripping then just watch 'Riprap' by Exceed and you'll know that our beloved scene has at least the better style :-)

I don't really get this french site. what are they selling there?

They are selling Photoshop files, inluding full 300 DPI RGB layers. Clients are "free" to use them straight or add some "imaginative" layers, and so on...

suffice to say, client using this "image-bank" won't really need any graphists anymore :)

these pictures....
although showing all the pictures together like this is definitely killing the pictures, the site really disgusted me, i found all the pictures ugly as hell, how can someone buy from these ? =)

it's just the proof that this style of pictures is now oldschool :)

because all new art wich fall into commercial products, are simply old fashion, and the creative people loose the interest in it.
It's the same thing like with photodisc system, all these zoomed/magnified photography of child's nose are now so old fashion ,] nobody want use them, because all company will have the same product design.
And to use these layered pictures, a company need a graphician which know how to use these files, so it's the work of the graphician to explain at his boss that these pictures are bad for the company, and why it is better to create a true product-identity dedicated to the company.

it's time to create the style of tomorow :-)

raspage rules....praystation is a lesson in how NOT to design a homepage, it takes more time to figure the interface out than go to google and find you information elsewhere,..they have functions under the fold, the page cannot resize but cannot provide you with sliderbars either etc etc...

the scene has just proven here that it may not be that much of an old dog. we have been looking at art like those links for ages now, and now were going upfront again. Because the upfront on code is not ours anymore that is the multi million dollar game industry's who have time and money to make incredible things. But DESIGN IS OURS AND ALWAYS WILL BE. Fucking webdesigners at pixelsurgeon think they invented the style....they didnt. the scene did a long time ago and is now moving on to a simpler look, yet much artistically free'er.
The scene long live hip hip...Hoooray...etc
