Maybe it's a relative concept. i.e. some ppl date scene's death near 1982...
it depends on which scene you're referring to - oldschool is something completely different in the C64-scene than it is in the PC-scene, for example.
being a predominantly PC-oriented scener myself, i would have to agree with rez that the term "oldschool" (in my mind) refers to the period of 1988 to 1993-94.
from 95 to 99 is "the rebuild-era" and from 2000 to today is "newschool".
