any demosceners from mensa?
category: general [glöplog]
Don't get me wrong. It's always nice to know yourself. I even don't (yet).
I'm not part of Mensa and will surely never be: I've enough friends and books to avoid such thing. I prefer in fact dealing with people of all ages who have succeeded in their life (whatever it can be in politic / army / sex / family / social / business / science / ...) professionaly or personnaly.
School is known worldwide to be just a little part of the whole thing about your success: just read "Poor Dad, Rich Dad" and you'll see that most rich people in the world weren't exactly leet at school. Why? Because school is about knowledge and truth whereas the system in which we all live is about money, so making money doesn't need leet people who know everything but insteed have ideas, strong leadership and rich friends or hard working family who will work with you. A good network like jews have help too.
IQ is a game for those who believe in it but to be honest, if you take the most powerful guys in the world, you see that they are more a brute than intellectuals, just look at J.Bush Junior or even J.Chirac (atomic tests, ...). It appears that nowadays to be heard on the political chessboard, your country must have the nuke.
Seems that Dinosaurs aren't dead in fact!

i was going to join mensa but then i found out that their iq level is way beyond mine so i didn't bother.
lol the mensa crap again :)
adok, when will you finally find out that all the mensa ppl are also just laughing about you (also? oh wait, yes, the demoscene ppl already do too :P)
adok, just because you learn everything word by word, that does not mean you are intelligent :P

tmb: please write an article about code, because you're extremely good in this matter. We need you and it's promised, if you write a good article about code for Hugi 32, Adok will not talk about mensa ever.
You can call us, just write an email with your skype ID to adok.

tmb: Everybody has strange traits which cause amusement in other people. That's something which makes life interesting.
I recall when we met the first time, you drank so much beer that you fell down asleep on the street and refused to get up even after successful attempts at waking you up. Actually that was not funny, but annoying.

That sounds funny to me!
tmb, i doubt many people would prefer you over adok at any sort of meeting, though. honestly i cannot imagine anyone could enjoy being near you. really, you're the filthiest, most arrogant (undeservedly) and most unfriendly person i know that calls himself a scener.

Are you sure it was tmb? I know a scener like that too (won't mention any names here ;-)
BTW: The way tmb (which after all stands for "the mega brain") reacts to the mentioning of Mensa makes me wonder whether he tried the Mensa test and failed it, and is pissed off for this reason...
you are so fucking annoying!

Yes, I agree. School only gives you some basic education which might help you understand the world better. Life is a far greater challenge and it's not possible to measure the probability of success with just one test - you have to find your own way. If it weren't like this, it would be boring after all.School is known worldwide to be just a little part of the whole thing about your success: just read 'Poor Dad, Rich Dad' and you'll see that most rich people in the world weren't exactly leet at school. I deeply agree too.
... my ex-gf once worked in a hotel (no, not that kind of work) and one time a group of mensa ppl stayed for couple days. the only thing she heard them discussing, every day, was about how to measure the sheets of the hotels beds without having a measuring tape, or something like that.
personally i think it would be more fun to be even in a group of retards (..and no jokes about brainstorm with that sentence)

hooray for giftedness
Serpent: That's a typical Mensa discussion topic indeed. But I'm sure they also talked about other things. Probably your ex-gf has been too shy to join them in discussion. (It's usually not a problem to attend Mensa meetings as a non-member, at least in Vienna. I've never experienced anybody being thrown out.)

Yes, not all Mensa members are atheists or agnostics. I also know some who believe strongly in God. Religious creed has nothing to do with intelligence.OMG, a bunch of suposedly highly intelligent people and still they're talking about god???

Ok, you're right about that one, even dumb people should be able to understand the stupidity of religion if they really took the time to think about it and if they would read up a bit about the origins of religions like christianity and the islam.
So... Who's gonna get laid first? Adok or Optimus? I'm betting $5 on Optimus.
i could send a $1 polish whore with hiv to adok and still win 4 dollars from your bet.. canadian dollars i assume? :P
thom, I bet $5 on me. I win. You owe me $5. I accept paypal.
Incidentally for anyone who cares, you can do a pseudo-Mensa test thing here.
Mensa is just like all those other closed societies - a place for likeminded people to stick together as they (usually) have trouble relating to the world they immediately live in. It's not a bad thing, per se, but it doesn't confer anything on the members. It's just an arbitrary barrier to entrance. Personally I'd be more impressed if all the Mensa members could run 100m in 9.6 seconds...

You mean... mensa is something like the demoscene?
