you forgot the mawi demos...

xeNusion: ...or perhaps he don't find them really memorable... in that case, i more or less share his opinion. mawi-demos are kinda like mid-range '00-01 pc-demos. too over-"designed" overlays etc. (mess != design, when will the scene learn?)

what he said.

i dont say theyre perfect... still im able to respect stuff even if
its not the kind of style i prefer to see.
and its a fact that their last 3 demos were good and better than the majority of pc releases at the same party.

since when was the quality of a demo an absolute fact and not just some persons subjective opinion?

oh i respect mawi demos, but i dont find them memorable.

Let's go for some more flamewar:

Ghandy --

If it wasn't your "intention to present your comments in a different meaning" then why the hell did you do it? Why did you copy my personal flames against lamer-magic from some pouet thread into the articles and make them look like official BP statements? Why didn't you include ANY of the rich information available regarding BP and Amiga (text on website, official statements, the SURVEY that's on the website for well over half a year now)?

Your article wasn't "a bit harsh", it was full of disrespect and the worst support to be done to both the Amiga scene and Breakpoint.

And you can interview my ass as long as your crappy diskmag stays as counterproductive to the scenes interests as it is today.

What's up folks. Don't blame the whole Amiga scene for one emotion driven article whith unapropriate rhetorics. Ghandy is still the top writer according to Eurochart, so you have to conclude that this goes deeper. And don't tell me, that diskmags don't matter because by this thread you're proving the oposite (and this makes me happy).

I think the discussion is very easy to solve:
- there is no law saying Amiga must be included on a party
- exept for the law of demand and supply
- people want Amiga compos? BP depends on Amiga-people through their entrance fee? Then there are Amiga compos
- but if there are no entries? No amiga (PPC) compos.

Or what the hell, let's not call it Amiga, let's simply call it NES and blame that scene to point out what the discussion is actually about.

If nobody of the NES scene wants to join the organizing team (even though there appears to be no barrier to entry) then they have to hope that the PC-Nazis (;)) will be generous enough to support a scene that isn't their's. If they are not even supplying the viewing hardware, the problem gets even worse.

...

I personally prefer PPC Demos in the Amiga competition, and the survey is also clear about that (113 against 78). Still, if there is no hardware, then they can't be watched...quite simple I think. And if the orgas think, they don't need Amiga PPC, or even Amiga, well then folks, vote by feet or get in that fu* organization!

("Wie de selbs' jesacht has': Rin inne organisation und von innen uffmüschen!")

To end this up and to feed the trolls: Please stop bugging people who like to use Amigas. We will not enter the PC scene as long as our personal happyness from being creative on Amigas is larger then on PCs. We will not stop drinking Ceres as long as it tastes better that Budweiser. And we are not going to sell our 1956 Mercedes Cabrio to exchange it for an Audi TT.

(And I'm not going to use octamed as long as renoize keeps beeing such an awesome tracker, even though it will never ever reach Protracker).

If you don't get my points, ask.

quality of things outside of the scene can be measured by some facts and are usually not related to personal taste.
for instance what has the quality of a car to do with taste and design?
why should demos be different?
added on the 2006-04-04 15:55:18 by xeNusion xeNusion
xeNusion: now we are talking about craft, not artistic qualities. still, in the example of a car you mentioned, the quality of a car is not absolute either. some people value different aspects other than others. for example, i would typically care more about the looks than what's under the hood.
added on the 2006-04-04 16:25:25 by kusma kusma
demos also usually lack usability issues, at least not many people complain about, say, the lack of windowed mode, or not supporting a given resolution, while at cars it is important whether a given car has 3 or 5 doors, has enough trunk space, ABS, central lock, etc.

That's cuz there is the unofficial Ansi/Ascii compo for BP. It's been announced on the irc channels and on appropriate message boards. And now, it's been announced here.

I just replay to say that I've mentioned it:

We need more [...] Megadrive+MegaCD+32X Compos....
You're near to the state were I call you "my hero". But: Mega Drive is written with a space and upper case D, Mega-CD is written with a hyphen.
selectanovel: Yeah, I fully agree. Amiga sceners: Join the Breakpoint 2007 organizing team and take responsibility.

I understand that smiley and hey, I will do a demo for the Mega Drive. I just don't know when...

Btw, for the Schwanzvergleich, I own an Amstrad Mega PC, sadly only the PC without monitor and without all these nifty input devices.

MadenMann: Well, i have a Mega PC too, and i connect it to my 27" Nec Multisync. Too sad the PC and the Mega Drive aren't connected...:P

...

Btw, wouldn't the 32X be in a Mega Drive compo what the Amiga PPC is in an Amiga compo? I can people already hear crying 'unfair' and 'exclude them!'
Word Scamp: I will continue to write what I want even if you think it's not productive because it's not your opinion.. And we will do that interview with your ass for gods sake! Let's listen to some of your brain farts then. ;-) And hey Scamp, please don't take it so seriously man! Just in case I would have tried to insult you, the article would have been completly DIFFERENT! Believe me..

Novel:Thanks a lot, that will cost me a beer or two!
