Support diskmags to keep them alive!

category: general [glöplog]

Sometimes I really have the impression that reading news at newssites such as ojuice/diskmag.de/scenet etc. and visiting some group homepages does mostly satisfy the average pc scener. (if there does exist any ;-)

Why don't you guys support diskmags aswell? Speaking of PAiN1102, it's full of articles written by sceners of the Amiga scene - why do they care and you often not? That is really strange.

Did you loose the roots already? Did you loose the interest to take part anywhere, is the fever gone? Did boredom and lazyness overcome you or what is it? A hand full of miggy nerds can do more than thousands of PC sceners - that is more than strange to me...

I'm not going to open the same Amiga vs. PC debate again as I did with some articles - especially as it makes most sense to work together. But the PC scene and its members often makes me shaking my head and feeling strange as I can't understand many facts that are obviously normal for you... sad but true!

the most of the diskmags I have seen aren't in english... so I can't understand them. If there are some english (maybe spanish?) diskmags, believe I'll take a look on...

I wrote an article for Autark #2 - the issue was finally never made (very sad!).

I wrote articles for for Wildmag 5, it was the last released issue.

So I better stop writing diskmag articles or the end of the mag is near :>. To be more serious I think there are several ppl which have more to say than me. And any Diskmag can feel free to use at least my party reports (most ppl are doing photo pages, but not text reports).

Thanks, FooLman.
Pain is a very good diskmag, I must congratulate Ghandy and the rest of the crew.
Now I'll take a look on hugi.

hugi isn't THAT worth reading imho... but thats just my point of view. just give it a try.

but grab an UAE and check out jurassic pack !!! the new one is just out in this minute and i hope it rocks, like the last issues.

I spend a lot of time reading diskmag. I wanted to write many articles, especially lately for pain, but unfortunatelly I don't think I can find the time anymore and I want to start coding instead..

dipswitch: this is not about diskmags worth reading, this is about diskmags in english. :)
I like hugi. but i'm a fool... :)

From my point of view, the problem with mags like Hugi and, to a lesser extent, Pain is that there's too little focus on scene matters (much like this site really).

I've nothing against general interest topics, but I'd prefer to read them in a library.

i second wade absolutely on that.

though a *few* non-scenish articles in every diskmags don't hurt. but if a half of a "scene" diskmag deals with non-scene topics, something is wrong.

A sci-fi or apocalyrica corner is okay as long as you have enough entertaining scenerelated articles on stock. And that is exactly the problem with Hugi and a bit with PAiN... But I really wonder why thee are so few writers on PC and compared to that so many on Amiga. Must be because we're feeling the roots so much more.. dunno...

or perhaps most pc sceners recognize the futility of words and the importance of deeds

quit whining, one editor can produce good mag, two can produce good mag with ease.. if there's a will and dedication that is ;)

I from the other side, like some nonscene articles (but not all, but that's a personal thing, so I don't care..) I think there are still enough scene articles in PC mags..

To Optimus: Well, for examle Coding Tutorials are not scenerelated articles - at least those which are interesting for me as I'm not coding. Just count how many (or less to be more precise) interesting articles are inside Hugi for example even if Adok is deicated and willing to make his mag a good one!!
