oldskool Amiga Sceners? Name this dentro!
category: offtopic [glöplog]
I've been searching for years now to refind the first ever demo I ever saw. I know it was on the Amiga and I think it was by Vectra, around 1988/89 or so. I received it on a disk also containing ICE diskmag issue #2 if that helps date it.
It was basically a spinning glenz 'V' with a nice subtle static effect. It had reeeeally mellow music (which is the main reason I'm trying to hunt it down). There were two backdrops it alternated between every half minute or so... and that was it. (maybe a scroller also)
I seem to remember the primary colour scheme was predominantly blue.
If anyone can help name/find this demo,or name/find the music that made it so memorable I would really appreciate it! I left the productive scene many years ago, but still keep a watchful eye on the impressive productions, and would love to refind that single demo that sparked an interest that has given me so much pleasure over the last couple of decades.
Hope this kind of Question is allowed here? If not then consider me spanked. :D

Have you tried looking at the Vectra demos and intros on Aminet?
If it was on the same disk as ICE, I assume it was a mag intro. It's hard to find old issues of Ice these days, but I think a group called Voice did an intro to one of the issues.
Good luck.

I'll see if the ICE editors I know have it. Mostly they don't, because they lost their copies of ICE, which of course makes me sad.
Still, I'll ask.

i have it on disks for sure. you want to come here and dig it out from maybe 1500 unlabeled disks? :)
Thanks for the replies :)
I checked all (~3) Vectra demos/intros on Aminet. It's none of them.. and I'm only 80% certain that it was by a group named 'Vectra' (maybe the dentro itself was named Vectra, hmm)
It also was not an official intro to ICE magazine. It was a seperate standalone .exe which I just happened to receive on a (probably) custom made disk with ICE#2 and a missile command clone game!
Thats just my problem also! I've been through hundreds of unlabeled disks to no avail...
Thanks all, I'll keep looking and hoping. In a way the struggle to refind my first ever demoscene experience will make the rediscovery all the more special :)

Search on ftp.amigascne.org! They have got a huge selection of vectra releases. You never know...it may be one of them :)
w00t! Hooj thanks to z5 for the amigascne link and helping me via email !
It was :
ftp://ftp.amigascne.org/pub/amiga/groups/v/vectra/vectra-decycled
OK, so nearly all my description was wrong. No glenz, just iconvex with nice static effect. But the music by Dr.Jive is what made it so memorable, though I (obviously) couldnt remember much about the intro code, I could still hum the tune over a decade after last hearing it :)
This tune needs to be ripped onto nectarine!
Thanks all, brings a tear to my ageing eye ;)

I'm curious now! Would someone please record this and post the soundtrack or video?
Decycled seems to be the same as Recycled http://bitworld.bitfellas.org/demo.php?id=7316
There's a download link for that mod and it seems to work, so just grab it and upload to necta as it is :)
