why are some the prods credited after a group..

category: general [glöplog]

..even if they're made by one person only? i mean that (in order to make things less complicated) if someone releases a prod made completely by one person, couldn't the credits go to that person alone instead of the whole group? or is it just a demoscene tradition to make the whole group responsible -in some way- for something that one person has done? (sorry preacher, had to ask this :P) i've wondered this for quite a while now..

just wondering, don't flame ;P and merry xmas et cetera for everyone!

over and out,

well, when you develop with the rest of the group (moral support and such) it's the group's demo, when you do everything yourself it's your demo..

but i guess it's always up to the author to decide if it's the groups demo or just his.. it's usually mentioned in the infofile anyways...

also, if you release it under your group it gets listed as the groups heritage.. so sometimes the demo just ain't good enough or not within the expected style or something... and then there are the usual flames and problems for a demo not living up to the group's standards.. or beeing released without permission/knowledge of the remaining group members/leaders..

which people shouldnt really care that much about but aparently still do..

one problem from releasing demos with no group is that you dont get to see them on a pretty little list on pouet.. unless you add them all under a list at lists.php like i had to to keep track of all the groupless 64k's i had released back in 99..

another big problem is that ppl only tend to greet groups not individuals, so you might get depressed from never beeing greeted in other groups prods ;) dont say i didnt warn yah

i tend to use group-names as a kind of labels of what to expect. but then again, i almost never do the music myself, so there's always more than a one-man effort.

(if i wasn't an orga,) i honestly wouldn't have had any clue at all what to expect when the bigscreen said "coming up next: shit faced clowns".

Skip the "group" word and use "label" instead, that'll straighten up things.

"One for all, and all for one" rings a bell?

"Author" might be a better word than label though

Gargaj:
No, since one Author or several Authors releases stuff under one Label. Label is what you want here.

If you want Author, you would have the handles/real names behind each prod. It would be a rather messy and non funny scene :)

Why dont the builder of the car call the car they built for their own name, instead of for example Volvo?.... i guess we can twist this in many many ways.. :P

because we are one big happy family.
besides this, no one wants to take the blame by himself...

I add things I make under Traction because I want to have everything I've done in a single place. I'm sure people here won't confuse you with my take on Úristen ;)
