Gargoyle's Quest for Game Boy: best music EVER on that platform.
Good music, true. Best music? I raise you 'The Incredible Crash Dummies' with music made by Geoff and Tim Follin.
Oh, and the best game music ever is ofcourse the 'Gitaroo Man' soundtrack.
Rayman 3
@okkie: Never tried that... gonna try that =)
Wings of death and Lethal Xcess o/
"The Dig", CDROM-edition - *the best*
games... well I only played Lotus, Settlers, Outrun and Pinball. So I guess the music in those must be my favorites ;)
uhm oh. Super Frog had som nice music aswell.
That's an impossible question. I try to pick 3 composers and some of their works; Martin Galway (Rambo II, Ocean Loader 2), Jeroen Tel (Cybernoid 2, Robocop 3, Savage), Jochen Hippel (Astaroth, WOD, Lethal Xcess, Amberstar).
Strikkespillet
super mario land 2
paradroid'90 had a nicely fucked up tune.
but what is the best? i have no clue whatsoever.

Solomon's key on nintendo nes. I use to wake up have this music stickin' in my head all the morning long. i havn't played this game since 10 years!
Spiderman & X-Men (SNES) Tim & Geoff Follin !!!
Pinball Fantasies as well.
gloom, yes sir, awesome game...
Other favourites:
Super Cars II Amiga
Giana Sisters C64
Commando C64
ACE II C64
RTCW - Positively SPOOKY!
Pinball Fantasies Amiga
Favourite musicians; Chris Huelsbeck and Rob Hubbard.
Btw, I'm still looking for a tune for a game called Dan Cooper or something like that - only had it as a rip that would play on it's own... I remember being blown away by some reverb-ish effect on a lead instrument.

AXELAY
Too many choices.
But I'd vote for Contra and Castlevania on SNES/gameboy/NES.
