BTW: assembly - if I recall right - had a retro category with an extended retro category in which you could participate entries that ran on hardware that was available <=1992, including the 486DX2-66 + 8MB + VLB + ...

PS: the input device that I'm writing on, an IBM NetVista's keyboard's luck is that I'm writing from school, and it wouldn't be a nice thing to brake someone else's keyboard apart... I JUST LOVE THOSE 6 ARROW KEYBOARDS THAT EAT YOUR PAGE OF WORK IN A KEYPRESS! :(((
