Breakpoint 2005 party report now online
category: general [glöplog]
Hiya!
The party report of Breakpoint 2005 can now be read online at the Hugi website (http://www.hugi.scene.org/ or http://hugi.embege.com/). The report has been published online now for the reason that due to a severe lack of articles, the release of Hugi #31 has been postponed to an uncertain date.
Yours,
Adok/Hugi

Thanks.
kinda boring and un-eventfull. but thanks for sharing ;)
oh joy
it's yoda on the decks, not paniq.
Quite uneventful, but okish all in all.
Next time, I'd rather skip some uninteresting details like:
Have a good day.

You had to enter the hall by a tent that was placed just in front of it (apparently rented from a British company, or at least it had a British-sounding name).
[...]
There were three columns and about seven rows of long tables, which was enough space for everybody.
[...]
I used my sleeping bag as a pillow for my head.
Have a good day.
Pretty reasonable party report to show someone who has no clue about how the party was - technically. Doesn't really get thru much of the feeling though - but each to it's own way I guess.
Some nitpickery:
And Bombe.
Afaik it was like that in 2003 as well - then again who knows ;)
There's no 'maybe' with Breakpoint, never was, never will be :)

The second was from a band named BASS: Sir Garbagetruck, Maali, Jeenio and Gargaj.

The game compo had 96k as a size limit, which is certainly more reasonable than the 32k limit that could be found at previous parties. (I wonder whether that new limit had been originally introduced to enable Farbrausch's kkrieger to participate in the compo...)

Maybe we will meet again next year.

i stopped reading halfway... :D
At least I'm now getting feedback on articles, while I used to hardly get any feedback on my articles published in Hugi. Maybe publishing the articles on the Internet and linking to them at pouet is really a better idea...
Paniq
... in fact is Yoda. Both are fr, but only one of 'em is a thick drug abuser.

Maybe, but the problem with websites is that they don't last. Once in a while I still read an old diskmag from 10 years ago but almost all the scene sites from those days are long dead and gone. But you could publish an article in a diskmag as well as online at the same time ofcourse.
[quote]The party organizers were also selling their own t-shirts for EUR 15 each; that's why Tomcat wasn't allowed to demand less money for his t-shirts.[/qoute]
I mean, what the fuck? If I want a breakpoint tshirt, tomcat isn't going to offer me one for 14 euros? (I know he made the bp tshirts, but you know what I mean). If I want a party tshirt, I buy one regardless what other tshirts tomcat has.
Make the man run his own business and more happy consumers.

I can't quote
We had 96k game in 2003 aswell, yeah.
And if someone is interested, the original idea came from a conversation between Myth and me ca. mid-2000 (IIRC), where we were talking about 32k was really a bit little and how in "100k, nearly everything should be possible". the size got then capped to 96k because well, that's a nicer value :)
I wanted to change the sizelimit already on MS2002 when I first was compo organizer, but by the point I actually became compo orga the rules were already published and fixed, so we changed it for BP2003 :)

:( Shit Happens
One paragraph about traveling to the party place... Wow, that's more than the typical crest party report contains. The phrase "this is our version of the common star wars scroller" came into my mind. Crystal Dream II anyone? :)
The Brisboyz are comin' to your town!
Ok, that's enough for now. There were indeed some boring parts but concerning the reader base this seems ok, some of the usual hugi readers never've been to a party.
And yes, I don't write that often comments to diskmag editors, I just wanted to correct some parts. ;)
Quote:
The party place was a big sports hall which from the outside looked a bit UFO-shaped, so that's probably why the party was subtitled "aliens ate my demomaker".

Let's just say Breakpoint had finally a party theme which has arrived at former Mekka&Symposium party theme qualities. The official opening ceremony was in Friday evening. The organizers performed a show that reminded not only me of Star Trek.

Brisbois is Bingen's local version of Boels and the name sound more french than english.(apparently rented from a British company, or at least it had a British-sounding name)

Actually paniq is an organizer at tUM and was a info team bitch at Mekka Symposium (at least 2002), but he never was an organizer of Breakpoint (in 2003 he was helping a bit before and after the party). BenJam is member of Salva Mea, TUM is dead and therefore known as Ex-TUM and finally tUM (theu Ultimate Meeting) and TUM (The Ultimae Mayas) aren't the same. Tricky, eh? But "back then", even I was confused. ;)[Organizers were] people from Farbrausch (such as kb, ryg, Chaos, paniq), former organizers of Mekka & Symposium, organizers of Evoke, The Ultimate Meeting (e.g. BenJam of TUM) and 0a000h (Styx of HeadcrasH)

Yep, and the German pope will make it to the Holy Roman Emperor of all demoparties. :) Actually it makes sense when several party organizers are teaming up to create such an event. The knowledge and different impressions from own parties are very helpfull.the king of German demo parties

... plus the well hidden ones. ;)But three toilets for men scattered over the party place
Quote:
"most of them" implys "at least 50%", I doubt that.Visitors came from most of Central Europe. Of course most of them were Germans.

Yes, we are commercial whores. The same goes for Buenzli, Evoke, tUM, ... ;)The party organizers were also selling their own t-shirts for EUR 15 each; that's why Tomcat wasn't allowed to demand less money for his t-shirts.

Sounds like the usual Hugi greetings part. ;)Later on, I met [long list of sceners] and others.

Let's say it's "ein fester und erwarteter Bestandteil" of Breakpoint. ;)They undressed and wrestled naked on stage.

Blame me! tUM (theu Ultimate Meeting) and TUM (The Ultimae Mayas) should be "the Ultimate Meeting" and The Ultimate Mayas.
Besides that, thanks for releasing the report now. :)

The Brisboyz in ya area!!!! steppin' out nigga!
So, like, uh...
It seems as though my trip *to* Breakpoint was more eventful than Adok's entire stay *at* Breakpoint.

thom: did you shoot any wolverines with a 12 guage?
okkie: No, I missed and accidentally shot Crest instead, which is why he was nowhere to be seen at Breakpoint. However, doctors say he will have a full recovery, so expect more Crest Demoshows in the future!
Ok, so I'm not going to bash Adok this time ;)
While really not action-packed, the report is quite complete, and the research was done fine. So: Thanks for it.
