no it aint. you just didnt notice all prods added are added on the 15th of the month refered to on submitprod.php
pouet doesnt keep track of release days, only release months. it never did, and i wont change it.

and no, it's not because we had a prod in it, I used to have this top set to 50 before that because I really liked this top.

Well, top10.php is not on the main page, you have to cross 2 pages to find it (giving the guy actually finds the "more"-link almost hidden at the bottom and then the "all"-link on the subsequent page, which I did not figure out before quite some time).

As we already discussed it, Analogue had a simple and good idea with an all-time top on the main page. I guess it's where it belongs on a demoscene portal, not almost hidden somewhere 2 pages further :)

well, i disagree on the idea. and i find a top of the month more usefull for people actively following the scene.
i also feel having yet one more table on the main index is nothing but overload.

if ppl cant find the more and the all time top10 then they obviously dont care enough about the scene to want to know what the top10 of all time is.

The problem of the old top list is once a production reaches the top it may remain here indefinitely, coz as it stays in focus, more people will click on it & leave positive comments (maybe the fear to be executed by the police thought for leaving negative ones or just the sheep fx at work). Unfortunately: popular != best.

This new one is just a list made after the number of hits, or ?

views/days
older prods need more hits to still be on top

PS: then why don't you remove the top glopers instead, nobody gives a damn about that. People come here to find demos, not to figure out who commented on 2000 prods. That way we could have both tops on the page, which is much more interesting.

..or more or less a list of this months productions (with 'popular' hits such as DUNGEON MASTER), in semi-random order...

All you will manage with this short-term-stats top is people clicking frantically their own prod to have it stay in the monthly top, which will be much easier to bias than the old long-term based top. How useful...

you're right keops, i shouldnt have bothered fixing up the toplist.php and adding it to index.php last night at 1am after i got tired of studying. please forgive me. i'll go waste 15 minutes putting back the top10 that everyone including a vast majority of fr has been complaining about beeing too stagnant to have any real use, this very instant, just to please you.

From what I had read in this thread and in the previous ones, people agreed to have both tops on the main page and it makes sense imo.

You remove an important thing from the main page of the demoscene portal to leave useless stuff such as glopers top, arguing you have a life, forgive me if I find that inappropriate...

Again, I never asked to have the short time top removed, I'm even one of its most fervent supporters.

i noted your claim, i'll either fix it or not. don't like it, take it to analogue. i'll gladly remove myself from admin status if he feels im not helping the site.

I think its great to have the months top on the front page.

Some ideas to solve the dispute:

-Add some link like "all time.." next to "more.." in the tops list.

-Make the type of tops listed on the frontpage configurable in the user account. For people who are not signed in you could show the all time tops so that new visitors can look at them to get an idea...

.. altough n00bs are much better served with a redirect to "demoscene.info" ..
