My demo scene sellout

category: general [glöplog]
I had to wait longer than many of you. But finally, I got a life, too. Luckily. I love my girl friend and have way too short time for anything demo scene related anymore. Also it's a fact that you need more money when you live in a partnership. So I decided to let things go and drop my entire collection of demo CD's. A good amount is signed by demo scene artists, others are well worth to be reviewed.

And here come the auction:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7163261046

I'm even giving my PC to my lil brother as birthday gift since hiis machine died some time ago. So I won't even have a PC anymore. I plan on getting a powerbook or a laptop somewhere soon to check emails and rent a car or bid on some auctions. The usual stuff. So if you have a laptop for sale, drop me a line.

bye bye.

I plan on getting a powerbook (...) to check emails.

Oh yes, Apple Powerbooks are the best tool ever to check email, when you are broken. Make sure you have WiFi and Bluetooth support too... G5 processors might also help a lot.

How can someone, who is interested in demo scene, give away his only PC? Unimaginable..

you should hold onto your scene cds.. you probably won't earn much selling them and they're much more valuable as mementos of your youth.

why not sell a collection of all the pr0n you've undoubtedly collected as a demoscener instead? :)

Since when does collecting demoscene CDs make you an active member of the demoscene?

I dunno, when did trolling and/or making laughably bad cracktros do something remotely similar? At least he paid a couple of sceners good money for those discs.

I see how getting a gf can give you less time to scening and will cost more (more eating, more doing stufftogheter etc). How you plan to fund your extravagant new life with (your first?) girlfriend with 10 euros...(what your action is at now)...maybe you set a minimum price at 20 euros. one dinner. at home :)
how much for the table ?

Seriously, this just doesn't seem like a good idea at all. This sounds like when I sold my c64 cuz I had an Amiga. Years later, I needed a c64 because - well, it's a c64, and I did things on it.

Anyway, while one of the things about a relationship is that you do change for the other person, you also share. And I've seen more sceners get in relationships, sell off shit, and then have a nastier breakup because their girlfriend (boyfriend, whatever) wouldn't change for them as much as they changed. And then try to get things back and spend a lot of money they shoudln't have.

They're small CD's. Box 'em, put them in storage (after archiving them with something suitable that won't die like a CD will), and pull 'em out in 5 years and smile.

Thanks for your comment phoenix. i'm not selling the cd's to earn much money. I'm just cleaning out everything I collected when I was young. I remember reading FC's info file which was included with every release. It said that some FC members already had a gf or were at university. I was just at school that time but wanted to have a gf as well. It should take ten more years then to make this dream come true. Scene has changed a lot and I didn't travel to Assembly anymore since they made that thing with the oldschool area. Whatever. Living a life with a girl, taking some weeks of holidays a year in a northern country and later on having some kids and show them some computer techniques is what I plan on now. I don't want to be 40, realising that I still look at pixeled girls on my screen. Really. :)

Do demo sceners collect pr0n? Hmm, I didn't notice.

Oh and I like the pic Maali posted. I'd like to have such a cute kid as well. I guess I'll have to ask my girl friend. ;)

sirdan: you seem very desperate. Why get rid of demoscene stuff? you dont have time keeping the 10eurs worth of demoscene cd's? ;)

demomaker a day, demomaker for life
you drop all your scene related stuff ? you don't get a life, you just opened your eyes to see you're just nothing than a lamer.
btw, if you think i need a life : i just want to say i've not a girlfriend because i allready have a wife and we wait our 1st baby, but i continue to create realtime productions even if i have few time to do demos.
i say boycott this auction! for sirdan's own good! once he's 45 and his kids have puberty problems he'll look back at those sinescrollers (on the *signed* cd's!) and say, woa, that was something.

the point is that you don't want to forget that you once did.

introducing partnership in your life does steal demo-coding-time. however, i still hold on to my old demo-scene cds (and i still believe i will do a demo-thingy within the next millenium).

however, saying that having a girlfriend has been a dream for over a decade seems VERY desparate :)
