I have watched heaven seven 137 times today, but it hasn't showed up in the top 10. Also, I am having trouble keeping my eyeballs in their place now...

Make a random top 1000 list so everyone gets satisfied atleast some times.

Simply create a new alternative scene, like what we've done on the Oric. All the oric demos (9 so far) are in the top 10 :))

I would like to see Heaven7 higher than FR08, but the charts tell me that more people like to see the opposite..

It also funny and rulez to see 256bytes dominating the whole scene, no matter if you find it silly. This is elite 4 me and this is entertaining! A 256b kicker =)

I think though that the biggest obsession for someone's scene life is to make a new demo that will throw down the current top one's from Pouet. If you don't like the top list and you want to change it then code THE DEMO! It sounds Impossible since the current top demos seem to have stuck there for ages, but that was scene all about!!! (Challenge anyone?)

For example A poem to a horse seems to climb up too where it deserves..

There are also other demos that remained there since the beginning (State of Mind, VIP2, Moral Hard Candy, e.t.c..) but perhaps they deserve it. I know though that the system is so that it's harder for newer demos to climb up. The older were getting thumbs and popularity for years, the newer are getting for few months, then forgotten, except if they are classic,.. but still slowly slowly. But who said that every chart is not subjective? In fact it's interesting to observe what will happen in the future, if some prods will stick there or something will change..

Oh,.. I just noticed that the game with the guy pushed from the stairs got in the TOP10 in so few time!!! Lol! Unpredictable...

Charts is what you make of. When everybody was voting his ass there, how couldn't the stairsgame reach the top10 so fast? It's crazy, but that's the way it is and I find it funny, since I know that charts is not the truth. Charts are just interesting. Unpredictable and funny results!

i think someone should let the cat out of the bag regarding the heaven7-musick.

I have just noticed that if you press MORE on the TOP10, you don't get the lot of tables thing,. but you can choose top10 according to machine/kind, that's much better and faster!

But it's strange. The AmstradCPC Prods TOP10 for example, there is Bombastic98 with 0% popularity and no comments at all, and there is then Face Hugger's Ultimate Megademo which has 1% popularity and 3 thumbs up. How is it possible that Bombastic98 is higher in the Top10 than FaceHugger's? I think something doesn't work so well in the system? Also top10 amstrad diskmags.. focus 1,2 and ovation5 higher than demoniak 6,7 and badmag 2, while the later have a thumb up from me... or perhaps the system favors our greek prods? ;) (It was funny to see our Dirty Minds prods on the top10 even if strange =)

I will see what's going on other small scenes top10. Is the top10 system working well and accurate according to popularity and votes or something is going wrong?

demo coding is a way of life ... like game dev maybe. as far as i should know, demos are the best way to show others how deep into myself i could walk. heaven seven is nice : it makes me feel like i'm not alone and still need to listen to The Cure with glu in my hair.
but i feel ashamed : i can't run saint final under XP. notice that i feel as ashamed i can't run old demos as i encourage people to use newest OS.

it's sad that it's almost impossible to get into the top ten with a demo. a game, a musicdisk and a 256 byte production got the popularity in a few weeks, but not a single demo made it into the charts the last 2
years, and it is very, very hard for intros, too.

there will be the day when the game beats heaven seven, and i think almost nobody here at pouet would really feel like that's right.

Seems that the top10 is dominated by intros, not demos. I can't verify that at the moment, but if someone wishes to infiltrate the top10, i suggest you make an intro instead of demo.

It's insignificant to me whether h7 or fr08 is in the top10, but WTF porrasturvat is doing there? It's a fucking game and doesn't belong here anyway. Plz remove it or i'll add GTA3... Shiit.

The generic top-10 compares different things. Many non sceners come here to see a couple of prods, mostly the ones suggested by sceners. They dowload what's in the top 10 and then go on with their lives. That's one reason why prods in the top 10 tend to stick there forever. Of course, a game is much more appealing to a non-scener, an intro is good because it's small. Very few people care to download a big demo and that's why there are so few demos on the top 10. I guess that explains preetty much everything. So, you can:

a) make the generic top 10 exclude things like flash animations, wild demos and games (that is of course open to discussion and flames).
b) dump the generic top 10 and make the frontpage show a different top 10 each time, like intros, demos, games etc.
c) dump the top 10 entirely and be happy.

Personally, I follow the top 10 occasionally, only for psychological / sociological reasons. It stopped making any real sence a long time ago.
