Very good (german) articel, descibing the scene to non-sceners. Do you know more articles, covering that topic?

Somewhere on the page you will also find a link to http://www.scenesight.org

That swiss article is the strangest article i have ever read about the demoscene. Besides that no one seems to know where that author gathered his vast knowledge of the scene :)

Wie die Digitale Kultur e.V. beschreibt, geht es darum, den Rechner dazu zu bringen, das coolste zu machen, was je ein Rechner gemacht hat.

This must be the most precise description of what the scene is about. Seriously.

please do a proper translation for us ignorants :-) - I don't want to have a babelfish point of view of that text. Seriously.
Quite hard, but let's try:
"As Digitale Kultur e.V. describes it, it is all about making the computer do the coolest a computer ever did."

Sole: Which one, the Digitale Kultur e.V. one, or the odd Swiss one?

I think I have the pdf still of the Digitale Kultur e.V. flyer...
Just to make things clear: The "Swiss" article is in neother coming from a Swiss scener nor has any of us been contacted by them (and they didn't even mention Buenzli those lamers). We guess it evolved from some DKeV press announce or whatever.

There's also an article "Introduction to the Demoscene" at
http://hugi.scene.org/main.php?page=intro

I've recently written another introduction for university:

Raster bars: Also known as copper bars, these are bars of screen-width moving up and down, sometimes appearing to be in front of the scrolltext and sometimes appearing to be behind.

technical insight is not a must when writing technical documents ;)
Feel free to propose better explanations and I'll update the document.

I wonder how people with lack of knowledge could feel the urge to explain certain non-trivial issues. A good tip for writing tutorials/articles is: Know what you're writing about.

Adok: Perhaps if you continue writing articles and read more about the demoscene, you will at some point be able to write relevant articles -- and don't be ashamed, some learn faster than others!
You seem to have misunderstood something. The intention of the effect descriptions in the appendix of the article is not to explain the technical backgrounds of these effects, but what they look like.

There's a book called "Demoscene: The art of real time", and on freax.hu you can read about a book that will be published in the end of june - hopefully :)
