Freeze: since I am the one who created that thread, I feel somewhat concerned by your "attack" of course :)
Some time ago I happened to code demos on some old 8MHz machine, I would be glad to develop the "if they never ever thought about older platforms, which were never been exhaust to it's limites...? Ah yes, because they want to produce a shitty "First PSP demo" because it's 1337. Alright. Fuck off" argument with you if need be ;)

Besides that: cool video again

keops:
I didn't attack you directly. This were thoughts I always had in my mind and which were built together since I started with videogames in the 80s.

Sorry if that hurts you. :/ That's just the way I think about it.

Yeah that Killzone video looks too good too be true... or maybe they're already working on a PS4 game?

on another non-technical note, fuckings to m$ & sony for not keeping their penises out of the innocent little 12 year old girl that is the video game console.

the reason consoles are (were?) great fast cheap & stable is because they didn't have all this other shit (like web browsers hard drives word processors). xbox 360 looks like it's just full of MSCum...
What's your opinion about Xgamestation btw? I am interested in the concept (building the hardware and everything from scratch) but I don't know more about it. Not much people in it I see (Just some pics of plasma/roto/fire and other demoeffects in the site). Then, I'd also like to code a Dreamcast demo oneday but I am messing these days with the GP32.

freeze: I'm not sure if I concur, but hey: I think the dreamcast was the most innovative thing to crash-land into the console industry. The architecture, periphials, games and overall feel of the thing make me want to shake a fist to the sky not wondering if there is a god, but why he's such a prick when it comes to good things dying young. I'm happy it's currently enjoying more attention from the scene than before.

And yes, there's plenty of untapped potential in what the market has to offer right now. Heaven knows, I'm still waiting for an Xbox demo that will actually push the boundaries of the platform.

Do note that most material you're seeing here is preliminary and often pre-rendered according to expectations instead of real. Having worked on Xenon (or "Xbox 360") myself I can say that it is a great machine, allthough it has it's flaws.. I'm unsure where the PS3's bottlenecks are. I *am* sure though that they will create great platforms to create graphical demonstrations on such as we do, but let's not get too excited yet.. :)

well, hey.. what about the new Nintendo? :)

weren't there supposed to be some PS3 *tech* demos? where are videos of those?
Now that the Nintendo Revolution is official, I must say, that I am quite surprised. The PS3 is fucking ugly designwise, compared to the Revolution and even the Xbox.

I was surprised by Nintendo. Yay. Now let's see if they are able to put some good Games out. ;Q

It will be nice to see the 4th microsoft console being a flop again anyways, just sit and enjoy :)

That new Nintendo Revolution sure looks dandy! Even the GameBoy mini looks really great, they follow that old Game'n'watch look and it's nice too see that they still have their older consoles in mind and just not giving all their effort in pushing the DS forward. Would be really sad if Nintendo would go the same way as Sega. Playing Zelda or Mario on the XBOX would not be the same. :)

Its Nintendo console is a kids toy, dammit.

If you are older than 14 get one of the other consoles.

Luckily, I'm only 6, so I can enjoy the fun!
am i the only one that thinks 'god damn the ps3 and the 360 are fugly'?!

the revolution looks ok. i hope there will be some innovative games for it. emulating the older systems is a very nice touch too. and when it really will be selling for 150 - 200 usd, that would be even better.

Nintendo is looking favourite to me. From their press release:

"Freedom of design: A dynamic development architecture equally accommodates both big-budget, high-profile game "masterpieces" as well as indie games conceived by individual developers equipped with only a big idea."

If that means they'll provide dev tools for it, it'll be the best console for the scene by far.

Psionice: Watch out, you will be flamed as a Nintendo fanboy :)

The problem with Nintendo is that everyone consider their hardware and games as something for children. Let's hope they do something about it, perhaps by releasing "Conkers Bad Fur Day Revolution" :D

oh, I'M NOT A NINTENDO FANBOY! :)
