Mike 3D: your "logo" looks like a simple font with a craquelure filter, a glow, a bevel and a lens flare. That is : 30 seconds in PhotoShop.
And it's enclosed in a rectangle. Check mrtheplague or elend's last logos. They are transparent.

Yeah, try to avoid Filters. And try to make up your own "fonts".
Yeah I love that that one it's like the word Pouet is being held together by string, Elend really did it with a different style and that took some time to make, Mine was about 20 minutes maybe less.
I really should upgrade my Flaming text gimp 2.0 program thats if there is even one

Mike 3D: Are you trolling? Try to make something without using fonts installed on your computer, just draw.
I love both you and your logos, elend!!!!
p01: don't bring that ...thing up. please. :) It's a somewhat creepy hack that seriously looks stupid due to the loading times and the dx bullshit filter kicking in.
The IE devteam seems to kinda promise IE7 will include decent png support. Yeah, sure, not everybody will jump on IE7, but then again, that png hack doesn't do squat for the reasonable amount of people who still use IE5.0 either :|

shifter: Sorry, I bring that thing up since some people are reluctant to use a decent brower.Yep the IE dev team confirmed that IE7 will support the Alpha transparency but the first beta is due for this summer and will only work on XP SP2, leaving in the cold 50% of windows users. ~1-2% of the web community still use IE5.0.
I totally agree with Shifter.
Moreover p01, I'm afraid pouet is not one of those Firefox/linux/w3c zealots places where the users can just go and fuck themselves because they just don't use the Holy Browser that is W3C/RTFM/WTFLOL/RTFC155413 compliant :)
Pouet must remain accessible to everybody, whatever their choices and preferences, without the need to install some fancy script or install a new browser (imo).

Cool. Not seeing correctly the alpha transparency of a logo won't kill you, nor render the content of Pouet inaccessible. So doing a logo in PNG is perferctly OK.
I agree that the PNGfix is ugly, thus the (!!!) in the message where I mentionned it. Still the "fancy" script must be installed once for all by the admins of Pouet. The whole process must take 2 minutes ( including the upload time ).
I'm not doing my FireFox zealot ( for a change ). Every rather popular graphic browser but IE and NN4 supports PNG.
Btw, since you talk about accessibility, try Pouet on Lynx ;) good luck.

I may try pouet on my wap cell phone. ~_?
P01: bringing up lynx as a baseline browser is one of those days where I'd just put on my Browser Elitism cap and tell them to use links or something. Then, I stick a Firefox plushie somewhere uncomfortable -and I don't mean the back of a Volkswagen.
1-2% of the web community is still a number of people I wouldn't want to have gatecrash a party of mine, and it just illustrates the point that you're always liable to piss off a minority anywhere with new things. And just ignore them. If you're going to jump through hoops to appease and reward them for using a browser that can't do modern stuff...do you really think they'd upgrade?
More of this would be nice:

Code:
<body bgsound="hallo_was.wav">
???...hmm, oh well, a block of text went missing. I meant to say that imho you shouldn't hack yourself through hoops to make IE users happy with something their browser should've supported aeons ago. That'll make them less inclined to upgrade anyway. The rest is me going nuts.

I brought Lynx in, as that's more pratical to get an idea of the accessibility of a site than Jaws.
1-2% is important for a generalist site, but these people are not the target of Pouet. We're not talking about the average Joe user. We're talking about demo sceners, that is people having a clue about the tools/softs they use. At least I hope/thougt.
Whatever, enough arguments.
This WE, I'll work on a logo ... using alpha transparency.

elend: <3 <3 <3!!! you should switch to walls and trains... =)
only one small thing: the left "ausläufer" of the P, you shouldn't have cutted it off. it would look better if you'd have it on same "level" as rest of the P and in fact rest of the letters. or "cut off" the right "ausläufer" of the T to make them symmetric. get what i mean?

If your logo never gets displayed because half people suxed it due to your intolerance towards their choices, bad display or for simply ignoring them, don't complain afterwards :)
"but these people are not the target of Pouet"
What people?? Pouet is not restricted to any eleet class or crap like that, everybody is welcome here afaik, not only the "well informed people who have clues or the so eleet demosceners who are so smarter than the average person".
Hopefully pouet will never become the place you just pictured, really :)

that movie mallrats is just brill! (it's actually the 2nd part of the infamous silent bob & jay trilogy)
keops: I won't complain ;)
Do you realize that the average joe user don't even know what a browser is ? in that any demo sceners is more informed than him, and that's all I meant.

Dipswitch: ah I know what you mean. Originally it wasn't cut off. I may put it together. Hmm.. I may do it now before analogue adds the logo. :p
Alright, changed it back to uncut. You may refresh the page with the Logo or click http://www.andersdenkend.com/zwischenraum/poulardenbrust.png
Here's a funny wireframe view of it.

elend: ^__^ gorgeous. I think I even prefer it that way
*name omitted*, one mean coding son of a bitch, used to work with IE5.0 (vanilla, no updates/patches) until he reinstalled his machine with Windows XP. A couple of months ago. I wish I was kidding.
But on to the logos: Elend... can I have your babies?
