Browser ports (bis)

So emoon just showed that the tools to get halfway (or more?) to a better solution already existed. By the way, an improved web-based emulator would also aid the development and testing of new demos, which is not something that a pre-vibecoded port of a pre-existing demo provides.

emulators are sooooooo pre-AI tech... boooring!!!
Whenever tomkh's not on screen, all the other characters should be asking "Where's tomkh?"

he's having a bit of a lie down
They can run emulated!

First batch of demos all running in Demarc:

(NOTE: Claude is being used do make this happen, for instance in debugging the handful of demos that needs special treatment or patching).

It's worth noting that these ports often do a better job than Webassembly-based emulators (especially DOSBox) which often have huge lag and/or stutter as well often bad upscaling and wrong aspect ratios.

I mean, emulators themselves often use dynamic recompiling anyway so it's really open to discussion about whether dynarec, the static recomp or both approaches are bad as they deviate from the original presentation.

Only the creator can assert a preference for presentation if they are that motivated to do so, as a viewer an accurate presentation is meaningful.

If these recomps were done without the use of AI would they be more acceptable? It's contentious whatever approach is taken. If the capitalism was stripped from AI and models were trained ethically to obtain the same results, that would take the temperature down I hope.

But on the other hand they still sometimes don't look like the original (like Nature v2.0 that looks too good in the beginning at least).

Batch #2 emulated!
