The plasma part is buggy. AI failed :)

I bet there are more. But eventually all these glitched will get ironed out.
We can now ask or favorite AI to investigate the issue, fix it and make a PR.

The problem most likely lies in the VGA emulation. The same bug appears in DOSBox, although the plasma effect renders correctly in DOSBox-X.

Could be related to working with horizontal and vertical sync and some VGA register updating.
Lol fuck AI.

Evoid Droid by Excess & Portal Process
https://gmegidish.github.io/demoports/Evoid_Droid_by_Excess_Process/

The "Evoid Droid" port looks pretty broken (the scenes differ from the original in terms of color and lighting). And instead of the scene where the robot runs through the tunnel, there's just a black screen.

Maybe it's just an issue with my browser? :)

I think that was the first port gmegidish did. Maybe he'll give it another go...

The Robotnik port looked pretty good to me!

Can people do takedowns on these, like on youtube when someone posts a shit capture?

Did you get permission from Ronny etc for doing this to Debris?

What about the other demos on the list?

Let's see what happens with Adobe vs. AI "clean-room" re-implementations of Photoshop et al.

I very much agree with this. This is why I got permission to do Planet Potion from the authors. Just re-releasing someone else’s work (and at the same time essentially open-sourcing it as well) leaves a bitter taste in the mouth.

Bitter taste? This is like eating a big plate of orange peels.

didn't you get the memo? the concept of intellectual property was abolished in favor of "the advancement of the human species"(tm), humanity will be better off devaluing individual skill and knowledge and instead have it all concentrated in a handful of carefully selected mega-corps that will provide generous access to what and whom they deem appropriate, at just the right price point of course!

Yeah, consent and copyright have never been a big deal in the AI space lol. Just take everything you want!

That's fair, I remember Popsy Team getting explicit written consent to use Fear Factory's tune in their demo.

To be fair, consent and copyright hasn't really been a strong point in the demoscene either ;)

I like that one demo with stolen music is now an argument to never care about any intellectual property or in general about caring about anything at all ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

one demo with stolen music

Let us not forget that the demo in question was released as recently as slightly over 26 years ago.

While this is true what has changed now is the scale. I'm not against using AI tools. They can be very useful in lots of areas, but that doesn't mean I go and re-release demos without permission.

Ahh yes, sorry, I forgot that there's ever been only one single demo with ripped content. My bad.

Medium and State of Mind also have "stolen music".

I never agreed with the "stolen music" concept though...
I see it more like doing a "fan music video" of a song you really like.

Thanks to State of Mind I bought and listened the Senser album a lot in my teens.
Same with Extrawelt's Disttheme thanks to mrpet's theBeauty (RIP 🙏)
