Revision 2026 - The Power Within - April 3rd to 6th 2026

Hotels don't like this tax, so in this case they are probably frustrated as the city has likely served them with a bill for x-amount of stays within a period. And if they forgot to claim the money from the visitors, they are stuck with the bill now.
@havoc: If they informed you about it properly during booking (as the hotel I stayed did) or confirmation, or at least upon arrival, it is legit that they demand the tax from you.
If they missed that it is basically their fault and can only hope on your goodwill to pay sth. they did not announce properly.
But good to know which company to avoid.
But I wonder if Saarbronx government is doing anything else with the city tax aside from duct-taping their desolate city budget.
Not like in some more touristy areas like in the Black Forest where every overnight visitor gets not only polished parks and hiking facilities but also free public transport in the whole black forest area and a bunch of discounts in many museums etc.

It was a fantastic party with many good vibes, thouroghly enjoyed it. Like always, there was too little time to talk with everyone I'd have liked to. Otherwise awesome as always! :)
Our hotel charged the tax as well, they argued that we booked the room 3 days before the new tax rule came into place and that's why it was not mentioned on booking.com. Leave a sour taste in the mouth because I am pretty sure they knew much longer that this tax would become effective on 1st April, so they and their partners should have informed their customers accordingly. Was like €7 or so, nevermind. But what a silly rule this is ...
