Revision 2026 - The Power Within - April 3rd to 6th 2026
category: general [glöplog]
shantee: the tables in the back are purposefully smaller and targetted for people with laptops (which nowdays becomes more common) and who dont need as much space. if you bring equipment needing more space you should secure a place on the half of the hall closer to the screen, those tables are bigger. if we only had big tables we would end up with less overall rows/seats available.

We got to the party much earlier this year (30 mins+ before opening) and settled in our usual-ish laptop spot on the smaller tables. However I did note that by the time we got in there were already a significant number of "reserved for X" signs on the vast majority of forward facing seats on the larger tables towards the front of the hall. I don't mind folks saving a spot or two for someone in their party that is arriving later but it seemed quite prevalent. I don't have a comparison to last year so I don't know if this is a regular or "accepted" (or "not supposed to happen but it does anyway") thing?

Coffee hose sounds good.
Beer hose anyone? :-P

Feel free to ignore any "reserved for" signs (apart from the "reserved for Meteoriks nominees" signs on the Kuschelstufen before and during the awards).
Just talk to the people, tell them that you bought a ticket just like they did and that you'd like to also have a good view of the big screen.

Thanks. We'll make sure to be less British next time. ;)
we then will fully support you by being very german :D
but what about german flag beach towels?!?!?!?
They are only valid on deck chairs, sorry.
We have released two of the broadcasts from the Revision 2026 party. The second one was released yesterday and features stories, interviews (Jenna/Minebrandon and Truck) and loads of nice tracker music (dare I call it Chiptunes?). Enjoy 5 hours of nice listening with proper chapters if you want to jump ahead in the episode.

As far as I know all towel reservations belong to Truck - regardless of nationality.
The third episode is now up for you to listen to. Saturday's broadcast has us talking with scener OilHeap, covering our ears when Revsion keep blasting the speakers and discussing the cool music.

It's time to close the book on Revision 2026, and we do so with our Sunday broadcast from Saarbrücken:

I find it a bold strategy, to post and state this:

...while not having been present in the E-Werk from Saturday on.
As far as I know, he left after he carried out You-Know-Who (sent to hospital, came back later for even more annoyance); he just drove home then; "this is all too much"; he did not come back. Yet, he likes to post about their achievements, see above.
The person, that had this strong statement beforehand.... just went home.
I felt safe anyway.
Sun was there, OhLi was there, Netpoet was there, Lambdacore was there, paid security was there. We got rid of that guy. Nobody of those ppl mentioned needed to state something about that anywhere anyhow.

Interessanter Move.
Hast du dir vorher Mut angetrunken?
Nun gut:
Du hast an der Lampe gerieben…

Leut, wenn ihr Gaytalk machen wollt sucht euch ne private Ecke.
Oder kommt einfach mal runter.
Back to topic: This years revision was almost entirely nice with quite a bunch of memorable releases and exceptionally smooth organized.

Actually we now did that.
I apologize for my unfair rant, it was clearly uncalled for. I know that now. Sorry to Jan & the security team.
I got a mail from the company that I rented an apartment from today. They're claiming "City-Tax" from the city of Saarbrücken over the period that I stayed in their apartment during the Easter/Revision weekend. According to their claim, this tax came into effect on April 1st. They're threatening that this is my last chance to pay the tax and that their next step will be a collection procedure. They did not communicate anything about this tax before or after I booked the apartment though, and as such I feel their claim is bogus and comes down to a moneygrab.
The apartment company in question is "Smart & Stay", Zum Zollstock 2a, D-66117 Saarbrücken.
Has anyone else who went to Revision this year had similar mails, either from this company or another?

I did not receive an email, but yes we also had to pay this city tax at the Holiday Inn.
I was surprised at first when they asked us to pay this since we booked and prepaid everything online, but the lady at the reception explained something like "yeah we're sorry this is a tax from the city and we have to pay it"
and it was something like 4 or 5 euros maybe less so i did not fight about it.
So yes apparently there is is weird tax in Saarbrücken

Yes, we had to pay this tax as well. Here's the official city council page (German only).
In short, it's 3.5% of what you paid for the room/flat itself, excluding extras such as breakfast.

Yeah we had the same at our hotel (Mercure).
curious but I think this money will never be used for any cultural activity whatsoever
(they claim they use it to support local art. LOL)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but sounds to me like you had to pay this fee upon arrival- That is one bad thing for sure, but asking to pay this fee only weeks later and then immediatly threatening with a collection agency is two more steps in the wrong direction. It's not the money I'm worried about, it's the principle, as a consumer I expect that prices I pay are final, especially if it's weeks after I consumed the product or service I purchased. That explanation on the council's website makes things even worse, apparently they could/should have known about this tax for months before I booked, yet still didn't inform me. If such things are legal in Germany somehow that's really fucked up.
Yeah, I had to pay a city tax after my stay in Frankfurt as well. It seemed pretty sus to charge an extra fee after my reservation, but being a Hyatt chain hotel, I trusted they weren't just messing with me. So is it a country-wide thing?
Oh well, at least no speed camera tickets for driving 3 kph over the limit this time (thanks France!)

It's different in every city. They charge it upon arrival because of administrative reasons since they have to pass the tax over directly to the community. Also, if you don't show up, you might not get a refund for the room but they would have to refund the tax. That said, I hate it and I always get surprised by it. But if they want you to pay afterwards, they must give you a corrected invoice and enough time.
