Dear fellow PouΓ«teers,
After years of careful deliberation, countless heated BBS threads, and at least three nervous breakdowns among our admin team, we are thrilled to announce a feature that the community has been silently screaming for since the dawn of time:
The CDLM β Coup de la Merde.
As you all know, the prestigious CDC (Coup de Coeur) has long served as our way of saying "This production touched my soul, moved me to tears, and made me reconsider my life choices." But let's be honest β for every masterpiece that deserves a CDC, there are... other productions. Productions that also make you reconsider your life choices, just in the opposite direction.
Until now, a simple thumb down was all you had. A measly, underpowered, tragically inadequate little thumb. How is a single thumb supposed to express the profound emotional journey you experience when watching a 4k intro that's just a vertical logo with a Comic Sans scroller saying "greetz to all my friendz"? How can one tiny icon convey the existential crisis triggered by yet another "my first demo" featuring a Metallica MP3 ripped at 96kbps playing over a starfield from a 1997 Pascal tutorial?
It can't. And that injustice ends today.
Effective April 1st, 2026, every registered PouΓ«t user will receive 3 CDLMs per year β because, unlike hate, quality disgust should be rationed and savoured.
A CDLM is not just a dislike. A CDLM is a statement. It says: "I didn't just waste minutes of my life on this β I want the world to know that those minutes are gone forever, and I hold you personally responsible."
How it works:
We believe this will bring a new era of balanced criticism to our beloved platform. No longer must the demoscene pretend that every 3-effect Amiga trackmo from someone's cousin deserves polite silence. Art demands honesty. And sometimes, honesty smells.
To our friends who are already nervously checking their own productions: Don't worry. Probably.

- Each CDLM adds a tasteful π© icon next to the production, visible to all visitors.
- At 5 CDLMs, the production page background subtly shifts to a dignified brown gradient.
- At 10 CDLMs, the production earns the legendary "Golden Turd" badge and gets its own special place in the "Hall of Shame" β a new section we're adding right between "Top Demos" and "Latest Additions."
- At 25 CDLMs, some Meteoriks jurors personally visit your house and ask you to reflect on what you've done.

To be honest some of my own prods I am fucking disgusted with. They barely scrape the barrel as to current demoscene "trends". And the best ones seem utterly meh at best. And that most likely won't change as I am 5 years too late with current demoscene trends.
And I lack the oxygen to even attempt on their own level (like the current batch of 4ks since 64kb is utterly dead) and rather just make shit I am personally happy with.
They are well worthy of cour de shits.
