Flashback: The Party 7 - batteries mot included

category: general [glöplog]

Hi everyone,

feeling a bit nostalgic here. TP7 in Denmark was like 38 years ago. It was my first and so far only demo scene party I ever attended in person.

It was wild and crazy and also a little odd sometimes.
... especially when we had a power outage and they opened the big doors and used cars to illuminate the halls 😅 - The party motto literally became fact.

While there are a few sources on the net with pictures and the products, is there anyone here who might have some more to pictures of the halls and the people from back then? ...not that I wanna find my young self or anything.

Did you attend by any chance? What are your memories about it?

I was there too, and yeah, crazy how the slogan foreshadowed what would happen. It was quite a lengthy power outage, so it became pretty boring waiting for the electricity to come back. But as far as I remember it was because the thousands of overclocked PCs had sucked up so much power that it had blown a substation, leaving a big chunk, or the whole town of Aars in the dark.

I was sleeping in the car when I woke up in a pitch black parkinglot. Going in having my wristband checked by flashlight and then just chatting and jamming out on a guitar. Good times. The Mekka&Symposium guys walked around with a digital scrolling marquee hooked to a car battery advertising their party which would have power!

Even made a demo to make fun of the power failure but others did it first in the Amiga demo compo, so it kinda fell flat.

Good party, should have some analogue photos somewhere.
