I gotta admit that I can’t understand this level of negativity. It’s like some people want this endeavor to fail, want for people to get ripped off. Why? Because the guy annoys you?

This for example

the same products that have been around for years

is a blatant lie.

No. And No.

The scammer just took advantage of the many idiots who want to be fooled.

I have proof that he sold both the existing cases and existing FPGA replacement products under the Commodore name before he (said he) acquired it.

Nobody knows if he or anyone else signed anything yet.

Current brand rights holder has posted nothing about the Youtuber's claims or videos, a few months in, while recently having sued companies in Italy over the question.

It's mostly sad that so many people are idiots and let themselves be swayed by a scammer posting ads on social media like Youtube.

If you want to buy retro things... why not look around for a bit. Why get bought by these Kickstarter Patreon Preorder camera pointed at lying with straight face ads. That's what they are.

You could put it another way: Why would someone be against something for the sake of it?

(Well, this is Pouet. This sometimes happens. I don't identify with the tone here sometimes, it's too skeptical. It could happen here that someone is poorly received, sure. But just as certainly, I identify with any haters here hating Youtubers lying for the click!)

But the thing is, why would *experienced* fans of the platform, experts (especially HW), and collectors, especially those loving and encouraging remakes in modern components such as myself, pick this guy out? He's just another Youtuber lying for clicks. (Typically, "I did something!" Only to not deliver.)

Well.

It's true that he lied when he said he bought Commodore, and he lied to his fans-only crowd repeatedly. That's maybe more on the belieber/religious side than what I'm about. They'll continue beliebing and never see any criticism, because these people don't hang in forums or look for feedback by active platform developers, and they use one-way platforms (ads, FB pages not groups, X, Youtube etc) for anyone who hasn't paid the price of admission into the fans-only. IOW, "It’s easier to fool people than to convince them they have been fooled." (C=)

It is true that for the past years, anyone who believes it was necessary for a person not-so-randomly found by the algorithm person to bring about magical things like new cases and FPGA remakes is completely uninterested in "Commodore" and haven't even bothered to websearch for what they want, or they could have had it for years already. In other words, idiots uninterested in the big deal they think is a big deal.

It is true that you can still get both.

It is true that you can get Commodore mugs and T-shirts anytime from anywhere on the web.

It is true that some people are comfortable lying with a straight face. And even to their supporters if it serves them, it seems.

It's not a competition for popular opinion, as in politics:

The recent posts, videos, etc are online. You can find out if you could buy a case and an Ultimate FPGA 3,4,5 years earlier. We have this power now of fact-checking. It's not right to say that someone is somehow wrong or against something for doing so. But the greater wrong is to believe someone blindly and not doing so.

keops, this comment is on a very unfortunate trajectory, discrediting someone on the basis of a completely unrelated artistic assessment, which was well reasoned btw.

You poor soul. The only idiot here seems to be you. Or you're just deliberately misleading, indulging in foul play.

You are not talking to an idiot. Everyone knows that Ultimate boards exist. Everyone knows of Gideon. I have 2 Ultimate 1541s of his. Everyone knows that cases for Ultimate boards exist. But where have you ever seen fully assembled Ultimate boards inside new cases and with mechanical keyboard for order? Let alone for that price. Show us, mister wise guy. If you go buying all the pieces needed, if you ever manage to get them all, you'll end up with months of delay, need for own manual assembly and waay higher price. So the only reasonably sceptical question would be: Too good to be true? How? How can they do it? In this timeframe for this price? Not the crap you gave about them pre-selling things that already existed elsewhere.

I gave this guy my money. I'm not an idiot nor inexperienced nor uninformed. If this turns out to be a scam I'll lose money. But what will you lose if this turns out not have been a scam? You willing to put money or face to lose? That way you can pretend to have a real reason to cheer for the worst, not just that hole in you. If not then please just STFU.
