Someone made a good video on the demoscene alert!

This is in my opinion the best video ever made on the demoscene, better than Moleman 2, better than Ahoy, better than the Demoscene Doc. The only video that I think comes close is maybe the demographics of the scene, but that was from almost a quarter century ago!
It’s fun but hardly captures anything demoscene apart from the obvious history 101

it's not even about the demoscene but 99% about cracktro music. who fucking cares about that?

Is the brief, minute long section on the scene well done? Yeah, reasonably.
Is it better than the aforementioned? No, just by its brevity alone.

It's a really nice video, I enjoyed watching it a lot. But it really is much mich more about tracking and cracking scene than about the demoscene. But still a nice video.

Would a leGend keygen be typed as keYgen or keyGen?
I didn't like it:

1. I've never heard of keygens being involved in the cracking scene NOR Demoscene
2. Too much emphasis on C64 and PC
3. Hasn't the guy ever heard of anti-aliasing? Those jaggies were jarring!
4. Not even a mention of Amiga, which originated the Tracker format

Nice video here about the demoscene too :)

I agree! It's just that when I made the post those videos didn't exist, it seems like 20 years after YouTube came out, people are FINALLY realizing that videos about the scene can actually be good!

there have been good videos about the demoscene before, both in documentary form, outsider explaining the demoscene form, tv report form and indepth demoscener explaining what the demoscene is in seminars and presentations. both on youtube and outside youtube.

if you liked this new one: great!

but please don't claim everything else done before in the past 20 years was no good when you haven't seen most of them.

seems like the rules of internet need a 'if it exists, there's a youtube video of it' addendum!

Well yeah I think that the demographics of the scene from 2002 is one of the best videos on the scene, and I guess a factor holding down a lot of videos IMO is that they're not in English or are like only half in English (Moleman 2) as that makes them less accessible to the audience who needs videos about the scene the most, America, and also European countries that aren't Finland or Hungary.

But one of my BIGGEST problems is that they might be good explanations or breakdowns, but they're not good videos, as from my perspective, the demoscene seemed the most advanced and ahead of it's time internet subculture dedicated to producing digital art. The pacing, "editing", "music selection", and visuals were all extremely ahead of it's time compared to what other areas filled with teenagers and young adults were making. So you'd expect that people would take their talents and cross over to the video field to make some great videos that take advantage of the visual aspect both artforms share and make something truly unique to the scene, but no one came.

Like if we had a video about the scene to the same level as this Geometry Dash Level Breakdown or this history about stick fights, it would do wonders for the scene!
