The Nordlicht Demoparty 2025 official announcement: 25th - 27th JULY, Bürgerhaus Obervieland, Bremen, Germany
category: general [glöplog]
Now we just require the return of moqui!
Thanks for the awesome party, to every visitor, every organizer and every act and participant.
The party was a blast and probably the most professional Nordlicht up to now.
The thing with the alcohol consumption and knowing limits:
Yeah, please, folks, try to set yourself limits If you don't have one and try to stick to it. It can and it will destroy personal relationships, people will get hurt - and at some point beyond repair. A Lot of us are having a hard time already due to what happened within the last few years. We don't need to make things even worse. Let's try to sort our problems out in a sober and supportive atmosphere and stick together instead of hurting each other.
Anyway:
From my Point of view, the new location is (a lot more expensive than the old one) even better than Lichthaus. And Thorsten (the person being the responsible location contact) is such a nice and caring person. Big thanks to him.
Having stores that are not a huge tourist magnet across the street is a really nice benefit as well. I will visit the party, if happening, next time again.
And that Brings me to the attention whoring part:
I will not be part of the orga team anymore, at least not in the near future and i'd like to avoid rumours of the reasons: It's not about any happening at the party and i am not leaving in Bad feelings towards anyone - though: the decision i made is still hard to digest and that may make me a bit grumpy for a while.
It's just that the job i did for all those years, which was first networking and then maintaining partymeister and coding party tools (monokrom-D as a custom screens replacement and voterotze as a prizegiving system) is not needed anymore. The tools are in a state where they are stable enough to run a party without doing changes and can be operated by someone else.
While i was told to stay as an organizer and pick up other tasks instead: I tried. I tried hard. I can't find a task that suits me well enough - and i don't want to stay being an organizer just for free drinks. Trying to pick up things that do not suit and do not satisfy me makes me burn out and leaves me in a bad mood during the party. I don't want to get more and more grumpy and burnt out; i need to reset and wait for a thing that's crossing my way i may then pick up.
That's part of the reason I brought Das Heinrich Manöver to the party. I wanted to show my scene friends a band of people i grew up with and vice versa. Connecting awesome creative and skilled people with other awesome creative and skilled people before i leave. It happened and i am so thankful for everyone making that work out.
Until then, i will try to finish some things i had in mind and on my list for the tools i made and then release them for anyone to use - and hope someone may have use for them and am also always happy about feedback.
I will also always support, prefereably smaller, parties with the knowledge I built during all these years - ask me anytime if you want. Just not as an organizer. Consider me a tools providing party consultant or something like that.
I will still visit Nordlicht as a visitor. Just to make that clear.
Thanks for all the awesome years, thanks for all the support - to all the people who are and are not amongst us anymore. <3
See you around, with hopefully a bit more time to do some proper release again.
