RIP Stingray
category: general [glöplog]
I'm not from the Amiga demoscene, I didn't know StingRay, but from what I've read it's a great loss for many... :( Rest in peace, Ben.
...meet him with Sensenstahl at Revision and had a fun talk & a beer, what a loss, sad! RIP!
This is very sad news.
I miss him.
Rest in Peace m8.

Unfortunately, I never got to know Stingray very well, but I was always impressed by his technical knowledge and how much he liked to share it with everyone.
He will leave a gap behind.

You are missed StingRay and gone too soon, thanks for our chats and may you rest in peace.
Hi everyone,
While doing some research, I came across a comment on Amiga-News.de stating that Reinhold, a.k.a. Stingray, "passed away from a heart attack in connection with a COVID-19 infection."
Unfortunately, I can’t say how reliable this information is - there’s no confirmed source as of now. Still, it might help shed a bit more light on the situation.
If this is actually true, it’s really bitter - and I’m very sorry to hear it.

P.S.:
Something that makes me personally quite thoughtful: it seems that Reinhold’s passing went unnoticed for many months - even among people close to him or longtime scene companions. This isn’t meant as a reproach, truly - everyone deals with these things in their own way. Still, I find it sad that someone like Stingray, who was an active part of the scene for so many years, seems to have passed so quietly.

I didn't get to know him in real life further then a short "hello" but we were a lot in contact when organizing the reboot of Jurassic Pack in 2020, since he had worked a lot on the engine. We agreed to have a drink in Berlin some day but never managed to find a date...

That's definitely true, and that applies to many. Likely because that's just how life in general is.
So sad to hear that. I will miss him. RIP
.he incarnated the best spirit of the demoscene -repose en paix ben!-
I'll remember you, and that's all I can do. My deepest condolences. This was far too soon.
I just read the news, I have no words, Stingray was a legend, he was so nice and helpful all the time about Amiga code and everything, he was so talented, this is a very big miss for the demoscene :(
I have seen so much time his comments here that I think I know all singles pixels of his avatar.
He will be never forgotten.
