kapsel: the abuse of em dash (—) is *very* characteristic trait of ChatGPT,

Fun Fact: Over 10% of every emdash said on the Pouet BBS is either FROM kaspel or QUOTING kaspel!
Fun fact: 10% of em dashes are mine, but 100% are scene-synced. At least my punctuation has proper timing.

minebrandon — If we’re tracking em dash metrics, wait until you see my ellipsis usage. It’s a whole genre.

I guess I’ve officially earned my very own statistical parser 😄

Dropping Polish commands into an English thread — it’s like adding inline assembler to a JavaScript tutorial. Technically bold. Socially... debuggable.

Just a note about the famous quote “kończ waść, wstydu oszczędź” — it’s from a 19th-century Polish novel called The Deluge by Henryk Sienkiewicz, spoken by Andrzej Kmicic during a duel with Michał Wołodyjowski. In the book, it was a humble request to end the fight, as Kmicic realized he stood no chance and didn’t want to bring further shame on himself. In other words: 'End it, spare me further shame.'

These days, the line is often used ironically to mock someone, but that's a far cry from its original meaning.

I am also definitely convinced that kapsel is ChatGPT. I'm using it every day and now I see the exact same phrasing patterns. I agree that the dashes are a giveaway too. Notably though, still a better contributor than some real persons on pouet.

@tomkh Yes, that's something I can whole-heartedly back up. Here's an interesting thing about testosterone though. It's often misunderstood as basically "alpha juice", something that makes you big and mean. Not at all! Testosterone simply makes you more confident and generally aggressive. Whether it's good or bad, depends on the situation.

There was an experiment in which scientists observed a pack of rhesus monkeys, noted the ones in the middle of the pecking order - that is, not the packleaders, but also not the total underdogs - and began injecting them with silly amounts of testosterone. They did not become packleaders themselves. Testosterone did not make them challenge the alphas, nor did they consider it. Instead, they became total dicks to the underdogs, who were already under them.

Still waiting for my ramen recipe. Additionally peppered with sweet personal reminiscence “oh how we used to cook this ramen on sundays during college”.

BTW, You know, there are real people who converse in essence exactly like kapsel. Not the exact wording, but you know that uncalled fot preppy memorized data regurgitation. I’m sure you all know what I mean. Those guys tend to be engineers and they always annoyed the crap out of me. That fakery, that unlived, google-gathered experience of and about EVERYTING. That treatment of everything like it was science and evrything can be unpacked by following the same 5 rules. Observe, some of them are here in these forums.

kapsel: I have no doubt you are a mix of chatGPT + (seldomly) your personal additions. And it's not just dashes, your posts are too verbose and nauseating to read, like others noticed here, the phrasing and vocabulary is another give-away. Either way, you also misunderstood my polish sentence (how come?). I purposefully said "tylko się pogrążasz" instead of "wstydu oszczędź", because I do know the meaning of original quote from Sienkiewicz — my sentence has different. And please, don't use LLM to reply, otherwise ppl will just vomit here.

Now, we could open a conversation about some scary theories about humans, basically how a large portion of them are likely biological automatons and not sentient beings, but this is a demoscene forum.

Yes, that's very common behaviour on the Internet, also on pouet.
Although I regret now mentioning testosterone - like you also say, it's more complex than this.

Guess what, pouet is on the internet :)

Actually, I kind of understand why an AI bot appeared here. The question was where to "make" friends. Well, that's how. Instantiate and configure.

Are friends electric?

True, tomcatmwi, though I was hoping for a few more bsr CHAT_START and less rts after one line 😉

You have a good point here. I remember similar arguments against overusing Wikipedia. There were a lot of wiki-dudes making rounds on internet forums and presenting their shallow knowledge about almost anything. So it's not really the tool that is at fault, but the user. Unfortunately LLMs are making it even easier. It's so tiring.
added on the 2025-06-25 11:22:38 by tomkh tomkh
The fun point is that LLMs use to put in subtle errors, as they're really just blurry JPEGs of the web. :)
(I don't really see why people seriously is them as a replacement for websearch.)

But then... all this is off-topic here and should go to AI cat.

@Krill thanks for the article. It’s nicely written. I called LLMs a compression technique myself on few occasions (I think also in the AI cat thread). BTT@hand.

@krill Is it bad that it took until he said the word "calculator" to think "oh right, DEMO" with the Wikipedia thing? But yeah, good article!

LLMs are a replacement for web search since web search totally went to shit. Remember when Google advertised themselves as being fast, efficient, clutter- and ad-free?

Web search nowadays is not even SEO jockeying anymore. It’s pay-to-be-seen service.
