RIP Stingray

category: general [glöplog]
oh man... hm that's really sad news. i read it yesterday evening and it's been on my mind all day today...

i was just thinking about him a few weeks ago and said to myself that next time i'll talk to him on irc and have a chat with him again. but there was no reply.

i had many chats with him in the past about coding and everything and anything...

i still remember the time around 2006 where he helped me with my intro “18 years”. i hadn't done anything on the amiga since the late 90s and he helped me get back into amiga coding. back then he was my living amiga reference manual :)

or the race with him for the first 256 byte twister on the amiga ocs/ecs... back then he was also involved in the early days of orb... that was a really cool time. thanks for that :)

no question was too stupid to ask him. the answer was always a great willingness to help and above all a competent tip. really one of the most helpful people i've ever met.

unfortunately we never met in irl... really sad... farewell reinhold

That's tragic news, and definitely a scene colossus left us. i didn't know him personally, we just had a few chats online. Stingray helped us fixing The Fall for high end Amigas, and I also used his "Non-System StartUp Code" quite a lot, so thanks again for this, and for your insanely long scene contributions list.

This is terrible news. I rarely had a chance to talk to him but when i had, i always learned something. Rest in peace, StingRay, you will be missed.

That's a shocking and sad news... He loved to argue and loved to help even more. One of the Amiga legends... RIP mr Stingo, we miss you already...

No, I just can’t believe it!

He was one of my most valued Amiga demosceners and I've got a lot to thank him for.
His heritage, the inspiration and innovation he shared with us will live on in our past, present, and future demoscene productions.
I hadn't seen him in person in recent years and hoped to meet him again at one of the upcoming parties.

I'll miss you, Stingray!

I am glad to have met him at one Revision party and having had a real nice talk with him - and was happy to do music for one of his intros.

Totally nice guy, I always enjoyed his „car reports“ that he posted on social media. RIP.

Never met in person, only online.
Always kind, always helpful.
Loved his WHDLoad slaves, especially the Orix Musicbox and N&F Megademo 3.
Goodbye, Sting

Oh no, Stingray was such a talented and widely known Amiga coder. I remember so many great prods from him. ...And he was only 50 years old.
R.I.P. :(

RIP Stingray, totaly shock to learn this today, so used to see his name in credits and various forums on basically daily basis, so really strange to learn he now is gone.
Met briefly a couple of times at BP/Revision., seemed like a good guy.
A great scener is gone....but his name will live on for sure.
