Quote:- The app did not work for me. All i saw was the start screen, none of the menu options worked. Notifications did work
You needed to swipe left on that start screen. Really bad app design to be honest, and it fooled me too, until my daughter told me about the swipe.

Quote:Additional idea: game compo videos should be no longer than 2 minutes, and maybe have that on saturday?
I never understood why the game compo is so late. Why not give people a chance to play the games on sunday before the compos start?
Thanks for the feedback! We will work on a more practical solution for the game compo next year.
As previous posters suggested - consider moving it to Friday 18.00. Then publish all games online with youtube recording of the compo at some point for people to either watch or download the games to play.
That sounds like a great idea.
I would love to have a "game compo corner" somewhere at the location where all the games would be playable in one place, but i guess that would mean participants would have to provide their own hardware and ensure it's up and running at all times?

I did, and it pulled up the menu fine. However, all menu options just closed the menu and brought me back to the start screen. I dunno, maybe the the 1000+ 2.4Ghz devices screaming for attention in the main hall played a role in that too. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Yeah, apologies for the App. There was not enough time to properly test it and get all the bugs out. I will think of a better solution.
It´s already there, they´re called votesheets!
Currently re-viewing all demo compos... and i find myself stumbling over that watermarked Revision logo in the top right corner, yanking me out of immersion.
I was sofa scum this time, so no right to complain, but why must it be there in both the stream and the recordings?
It's not like people don't know what they channel they tuned into, and bootlegging isn't a concern either, is it?

agree with krill, that logo looks like an unsolicited extra brand on my prods
The respectful mode here would be "leave that decision to prod authors", no?
I sometimes think about reverting the watermark in the next revision release. feels a bit childish tho. I definitely don't like to see different people watermarking my prod with their brand

Oh dear.
Just run them in realtime. Problem solved.
Just run them in realtime. Problem solved.
For separate videos you would visit/link @RevisionCaptures anyway.

Show me the person who can run all those things on their respective actual hardware... and i'll show you a liar.Just run them in realtime. Problem solved.

Thanks for the tip, didn't know that channel. Seems a tad incomplete, though. For separate videos you would visit/link @RevisionCaptures anyway.

Well, you might kindly ask them to fix it if you find issues. A playlist might be incomplete, but the prod videos should be there.
As far as I know, the @RevisionCaptures channel only has the entries that get video recordings already in the course of running the compo - so that would be oldskool, Amiga, game, wild, animation. For the ones that are run live (PC demo / intro, fantasy console...) I don't think there's any intention of doing captures just for Youtube.
The watermark/station bug is there because we reencode the stream recordings for youtube - that is the only practical way to get them quickly uploaded before the party is over.
Okay, but why is there a watermark in the stream in the first place? What's the rationale?
a logo is there for many years and all of a sudden that is a problem?
It's a capture from a live event.
Most live events add their logo.
Since when is this a problem?
If you want captures for prods without the logo, you can DIY or wait for the respective group or someone else to do it.
There's more than enough work for the Revision team without doing specific captures for a few sofa sceners watching the prods on YT.

Imagine going through all that trouble of capturing, uploading, correctly labeling and naming everything, and have it all done hours or at max days after the compos, all that for free - just to have someone complain about the logo.

Staph it... aren't we all in the same boat here...aren't we all friends here...who cares if your prod has the Revision "brand" on it...... on a yt video. (?)
As a kid of the 80/90ies I love the Revision watermark in the corner...reminds me of those rich kids in the neighborhood who had Satellite TV with SUPER CHANNEL and SKY , where we all gathered to see WWF and latest Sabrina and Samantha Fox videos.
Next you want Truck and Subi gone from the commentary....c'mon mate, this is what its all about...this is why we are shitfaced at the party so we can enjoy the re-runs weeks later in our underpants having a beer. Revision Reruns are the shit.....
That said.....No disrespect to Truck and Subi.....but...MOAR GUEST FEATURE HOFFMAN commentary in monitor please...... :D

Maybe, but as demoparty streams go, Revision watermark is quite the outlier. Most live events add their logo.
But if it must be, then it must... for whatever reason that's hopefully more than just "because we can".
Just use AI to remove the watermark! Use our world first realtime online AI watermark remover™. What a great showcase of the state of our civilization that would be. Pure art. We’ll litter the videos with watermarks because of reasons, then We’ll use the ultimate resource hog to remove those logos also because of reasons. Quickly, burn more coal! No, really, one use of the watermark could be to f*ck with AI training. So when you prompt it “in the style of demoscene” it craps out watermarked “art”.
