Don't worry, we will have Trophies, based on the same custom PCB next year again.

guess i have to come back again too then. first deadline, and surely not the last, i enjoyed every minute spent at ORWOhaus.

also, I'm shocked, how far the "german demoparty trophy war" has escalated :) hopefully Revision can keep up with Evoke or Deadline there.

What a blast. Deadline 2023 was certainly already a high point in the party series, but somehow we managed to outdo ourselves yet another time. I was probably a bit sceptical when the idea for this party theme was mentioned for the first time, but seeing all this wonderful decoration (especially in the entrance area), the dresses, the opening ceremony, everything was just executed flawlessly, certainly making this one of the most memorable party themes. And the flawless execution didn't stop there. Those trophies... probably the coolest prize I have ever seen at any demoparty. An immense amount of work was put into them, and it shows! Thanks to everyone that made it happen. And in the end, the huge amount of releases we got was probably the best birthday gift we could wish for, even if it meant staying up in front of the bigscreen until 5 in the morning. :)
Also thanks to QM for delegating the responsibility for the synth jam. ;) I think the setup was well-received, and I hope we can bring it back in one way or another next year. Maybe next time, everyone just brings their favourite piece of gear and we put them all on one table? ;)

I've also uploaded the high-quality version of my tracked music entry, Glow, just now. Enjoy, and see you next year!
Yes, the synth jam was a great idea! That should definitely be brought back.

Overall it was a great party and in particular I was happy how the mate-light competition turned out. ;) Thank you for making this happen! And for giving participants the opportunity to react to brightness/contrast issues.

There was one issue though, and maybe this can be forwarded to the folks who are responsible for the mate light hardware/software: Apparently the system does not operate properly in situations where the frame rate is low. If you compare the animation on normal screen vs. the mate light it can look really off. The most striking example was this entry:

https://demozoo.org/graphics/358664/

It just looked like only a minority of bottles/pixels were updated during the animation. Maybe this is an opportunity for bugfixing. :)

Great party, felt really smooth, glad I got to know a few new people, turn a few acquaintances into friends, and ofc hug a bunch of by now old friends!
Wish I had found the time to play with the synths, please bring that back or to another party near me! Late compoblock was late, felt like quite the deathmarch leaving only the hardcore sceners awake but oh well, I think it may even have helped the immersion of some demos. Also thanks to all participants and supporting organizers of the bicolor challenge, it was really cool to see the challenge concept once more draw an audience!

Not really anything to critique, except for, and sorry to bring this up one last time, the overhead lights being on in the main hall on saturday morning for way too long (4+ hours?), scorching my tired vampire coder eyes while busting out code for the Nth hour. I realize that deadline might be the only party next to revision to have a blacked out location thus I may have no basis to complain, but to me the artifical overhead lighting felt really uncomfortable, like turning on the lights in a night club, turning a cool party place into a dirty room with chairs and tables, killed the vibe (during that time).

Shameless plug in the end, my releases now have youtube links, so feel free to revisit them and provide some feedback =)

Bicolor Challenge
Btw. the download links are not offline but pouets crawler can't reach them due to firewall issues, so as always: best enjoyed in realtime (the bicolor one is quite heavy tho).

i'm still in the process of getting all the puzzle pieces back together, but here we go. thanks to each and every one for yet another fantastic event! big thanks to ever busy v3nom and the whole organizing crew for making this another awesome and memorable event. the amount of work that went into preparing the decorations must have been crazy. also, thanks to gnumpf posse for their everlasting popcorn supply. i’m still finding bits of popcorn in my pockets, might save those for later.
the location is really one of my favorites, and unlike another berlin based demoparty venue, the orwohaus staff were so very welcoming and friendly again. on top of everything, i got to meet my childhood hero dreamfish! so that one's off the bucket list as well.

The after party page is online!

The Party is over, and it was a blast! Thank you all for coming and participating! Thanks for all the amazing releases, I will still need some time to re-watch and comment them all :)

On our after-party page you'll find all results from the competitions, recordings of all events and photos of the weekend. If you have some photos or videos yourself that you like to share with us, please send us a note to contact@demoparty.berlin and we’ll add them here.

Also again thanks to all our orgas, supporters, performers, seminar-speakers, sponsors and everyone who made the party possible.

And special thanks to everyone who made the trophy possible!
BB Image

It's the Deadline logo made out of 104 individually addressable RGB-LEDs, embedded in a solid hand-made trophy out of more than 10 layers of resin with 3d printed details. There's 64 more LEDs in the base - all controlled by a custom designed and manufactured PCB, powered by an ESP32, enclosed in a 3D-printed frame, which is running a fork of the wled firmware that enables custom patterns and WLAN and bluetooth connectivity. More than 80h of labour went into each of them.
We still have PCBs left, so we plan to have electronic trophies next time as well ;)

…your favourite Deadline will return! Mark the date:
3rd – 5th of October 2025, ORWOHaus, Berlin, Germany

I can't believe I see v3nom spreading the most toxic bullshit as usual...

... these are 106 LEDs in the logo :P

but in all seriousness - for whoever is actually in posession of such a contraption - there's going to be a firmware upgrade soon.

soon-ish.

this year.

maybe. (the T in QM stands for Time Management)

I also would like to give my feedback again:

I wasn't there, but what I have seen from the stream in regards of love that went into decoration and the compo prizes was mindblowing. This is EXACTLY a tradition I was missing at lot of parties in the past.

So: Keep it up!
