to me, it looks like he's actually correcting himself, like the demos-as-animations-idea. i didn't read the entire mail, but i saw something about him saying that releasing demos as animations should be a complement to releasing the demo as an .exe, which sounds like a good idea, and pouet has supported that for some time now. not to mention the amiga-scene..
when i read his article i got the idea that we should stop coding completely and only do animations, along with some other stupid ideas.

If I were Scamp / Simon Kissel, who I'm not, I would tell all diskmag editors that they have one week from now to get their data backed up and that they'll have to host their diskmags elsewhere.
Why?
For several good reasons:
1st Any press is fully independent and thus have free speech when it's independent from its publisher that means when it owns his publisher.
This is not the case in the Scene and Scamp and scene.org are the publishers of all diskmags.
When you're in such situation, as an editor you are dependent of Scamp and scene.org for letting you publish something.
They may have high morals and ethics, they have political ideas and values, and may not be OK publishing Nazi or Eugenist propaganda (Hugi's Adok article, El Afghano, ...), which is in perfect compliance with their ethics.
Same for Dipswitch article which is factually a pack of lies and slandering material.
They may tolerate it, however this is not in agreement with Scene values,

2nd As a politically involved individual, when Scamp power will grow and it will,

3rd Diskmags are dinosaurs: the basic function of them is to provide Scene information.
Most of which is non interesting apart from the well done sceners interviews which aren't common anymore.
Who seriously will make the effort to find a diskmag using several clicks on pouet or scene.org, download it, unpack it, run it (if it runs because with the amount of windows versions around it's not sure and people use tablets, smartphones and less and less laptops and desktop PC / Mac), and then read it whereas the basic need is provided in a far handy way but the world wide web on all platforms?
Diskmags keep info in obscure formats obsolete and unknown by most, and not searchable by search engines, this is simply not technologically up to date.
Coders don't get structured info in them, they use books and go to specialised web site, same for graphicians, 3D animators, musicians, designers, ...
This is the third reason all those editors have to move to the web:

If I were Scamp / Simon Kissel, who I'm not, I would tell all diskmag editors that they have one week from now to get their data backed up and that they'll have to host their diskmags elsewhere.
Why?
For several good reasons:
1st Any press is fully independent and thus have free speech when it's independent from its publisher that means when it owns his publisher.
This is not the case in the Scene and Scamp and scene.org are the publishers of all diskmags.
When you're in such situation, as an editor you are dependent of Scamp and scene.org for letting you publish something.
They may have high morals and ethics, they have political ideas and values, and may not be OK publishing Nazi or Eugenist propaganda (Hugi's Adok article, El Afghano, ...), which is in perfect compliance with their ethics.
Same for Dipswitch article which is factually a pack of lies and slandering material.
They may tolerate it, however this is not in agreement with Scene values,
and it's obvious some people abuse of the kindness of others in the Scene.
2nd As a politically involved individual, when Scamp power will grow and it will,
many people will became interested in his activities like for example in the Scene.
Journalists for example will comb pouet and scene.org for stories to sell to their audience
and if Germany is like any other countries in EU, there are a press specialised in gossip, scoop for their headlines.
This could cause public embarassment (think of Hugi's issues)
or even more, imagine if his company became public with stock holders...
3rd Diskmags are dinosaurs: the basic function of them is to provide Scene information.
Most of which is non interesting apart from the well done sceners interviews which aren't common anymore.
Who seriously will make the effort to find a diskmag using several clicks on pouet or scene.org, download it, unpack it, run it (if it runs because with the amount of windows versions around it's not sure and people use tablets, smartphones and less and less laptops and desktop PC / Mac), and then read it whereas the basic need is provided in a far handy way but the world wide web on all platforms?
Diskmags keep info in obscure formats obsolete and unknown by most, and not searchable by search engines, this is simply not technologically up to date.
Coders don't get structured info in them, they use books and go to specialised web site, same for graphicians, 3D animators, musicians, designers, ...
This is the third reason all those editors have to move to the web:
they will have a higher audience there and the natural selection will be higher thus competition will force them to innovate and be great while legal (or they maybe attacked legally or forced to obey by their host rules).
Yes it's costly, this is the cost of freedom:
to reduce bandwidth usage, they'll have to use a simple layout, maybe full ascii text only with just a few pictures and nothing else.
Authors and editors will have there more interaction with various people, which will bring new ideas thus fresh content.
4thDiskmags consumers are text readers looking for info.
They don't care about 3D intro, lavish graphics, mp3 musics, 3D menus and other bells and whistle.
They care about meaning, stories, info not found elsewhere.
And this content isn't got using plans already written: filling a canned interview list of questions isn't doing it.
