I know this is not a pouet.net topic.. but what do you think of all that's happened today?

I feel totally empty now. like I've been stripped of all my prevoius knowledge about world and all my beliefs and hopes.. maybe that sounds pathetic and I'll be a happy little cynic tomorrow, but for now.. this is just.. too much..

i feel sorry for the people who were killed, or knew anyone who were caused any pain by this terror act.

i also think it's a good thing that usa learns that they do not have 100% power of the world.

and finally i think this discussion shouldn't be kept on pouet.net -- no politics in the demoscene - please!
I didn't intend it to be a political discussion - just thoughts, feelings, that's all.

but analogue can delete it anytime anyways.

maybe i'm a really horrible person but i don't feel very much at all to be honest. that could be because i wasn't there when it happened and because i didn't know any-one of those who got killed.

horrible shit happens everywhere, all of the time. you sort of get numb to it. or used to it.

and macaw. can we only talk about demos in the demo scene?

Hey guys..

I'm probably the only active american on this site, and I finally got around to logging on, so I might as well say a word or ten.

The events and images have been shocking to me. In the past few months, America has turned its attention away from the Middle East and most people hoped terrorism would go away. Unfortunately we were mistaken. I live two hours away from New York City, so I'm okay of course. But to watch your military center on fire and two of your largest buildings (and your economic center) collapse into ash and rubble, by someone using your own planes as weapons, is really disheartening. I'm sure you're getting a slightly different point of view in Europe - I saw a little bit of the BBC Newsnight, and they spent half their time chatting about isolationism, for fucks sake. It's not about politics at this point in time, it's about recovery.

I personally appreciate everyone's support. You don't have to feel personally affected by it, even if it will have an effect on the global economy, inevitably (I really don't want to think about global war at this point). But if you find pleasure in mass destruction and thousands of innocent people dying, whatever their nationality or beliefs, then I have no respect for you whatsoever. Hopefully that doesn't apply to any of my fellow Pouetians.

I'm not sure if this will have any effect on the DemoDVD.. maybe just a couple days break, who knows. Everyone on the staff is doing fine, AFAIK. I'll probably be less active here for a little while.

i just want to say that those palestinians i saw dancing and eat candy: i hope they all get driven over by slow-moving combine harvesters. they are truly less than human.

i'm not pro-america, but if thousands, maybe tens of thousands of people die, you DO NOT dance and song. you MOURN.

current mood: disgusted.
current music: epoq - atnep.

i guess those little dancing children didn't really know what they're doing
added on the 2001-09-12 21:26:33 by robotriot robotriot
do you think the parents of those children know what they are doing to their children ? I don't even talk about the parents themselves 'coz imo they are no-humans.

human being don't dance when thousands of other human beings die

those humans just have nothing to lose. people don't act like this when they have good houses, good food and good governments.

I don't blame them, ofcourse it is inhuman to celebrate the deaths of so many people that sure as hell did not deserve it, but i still don't blame them... the sad fact is that so many people pay for the crimes of a handfull of men who call themselves world leaders but are infact just buchers and criminals, and the worst sort of criminals, the ones that will never be brought to justice for their crimes, because they ARE the judges.
still this is not the way to fight the corruption by killing thousands of innocents... it is a tragedy

I also wanted to write something about this, but I don't know exactly what and where to start..

Seeing so many people die at once was horiffic, especially when I took into consideration that this happened in a civilized city and not in a 3rd world country. It's strange that it shocked me more than e.g. the bombing in Yugoslavia, but perhaps because I saw these horiffic things happening in the center of a safe civilized country. Perhaps because I witnessed everything in a big country collapsing in one day!

I heard some people saying that Americans should wake up now after this and they will learn how really bad is killing innocent people, like the bombing they did in Yugoslavia, the war on Vietnam, e.t.c.. I think though that no more people deserve to be sacrificed for every reason out there. I don't like to see people beeing happy that the "bad" Americans are punished now. I don't know,. but I see several nonUsa people keeping an antiamerican attitude, sometimes it's even like a trend or something,.. I understand that there must be reasons for this, but I hate this,. nobody must be hated, no matter of nation or religion...

As for the palestinians,. I wouldn't love to say that they are not humans, I deny to myself to say this. I was also feeling a melancholy watching them cheering up with all these, but I understand that they just don't know. Who knows? Perhaps they will learn. We see nati when their country is hitted hard. I see nationalism all over the world, people still don't understand, or perhaps they don't give a value to their lifes and life in generall? I will keep watching this for a long time, one nation cheering up that another nation is hit hard, perhaps we will see the Americans in the near future cheering up for the punishment of the suspicious countries (Well,. they are terrorists,. not countries, but anyway) We still don't understand and I understand that it will take a lot of time until we understand! There are also people who have lived a war in their life and they keep hating the nations responsible. E.g. I am from Greece and I really really dislike that hate against the Turks! There are people who are young and are just keeping beeing nationalists for some strange reasons (For the fun? Because it looks cool??? What the heck?), but there are also people who have lived a war and can't sometimes wipe out the hate they feel about the Turks (E.g. my mother is from Cyprus and have left her birthplace Famagusta (Amoxostos)). We will keep unhopefully some like/favor or hate/dislike for some nations as long as we don't understand. If there starts a 3rd world war, it will be very hard for people to erase the memories of loss, war and hate for the responsible nations. I have never felt how it is my country beeing hit by war, I hope this will never happen, but if it happens I will try not to leave hate for other nations breed inside myself...

I think I have to stop here for a moment,.. I write too much. Just a scary thing left for the end, which I got from other sources:

Peace 4ever! (From Metal Slug ;)

Optimus/Dirty Minds

Nostradamus Knew

"In the year of the new century and nine months,
From the sky will come a great King of Terror...
The sky will burn at forty-five degrees.
Fire approaches the great new city..."

"In the city of york there will be a great collapse,
2 twin brothers torn apart by chaos
while the fortress falls the great leader will succumb
third big war will begin when the big city is burning"

- NOSTRADAMUS

He said this will be bigger than the previous two.

2001 is the first year of the new century and this is the 9th month. New York is located at the 41st degree Latitude.

> Now its proven.. the world dont want USA as leader... iam totally ok with that :)

if i can choose a leader, and the choice is between america or bin laden, i choose america (even if that means bush). it is easy to say america is bad, because compared to the society i dream of america actually is bad. but compared to the society these terrorist want to build, america is heaven.

america (and germany, where i live) allow me to a very great extent to think, say and do what i want. in afganistan, it is forbidden NOT to belief in god, and people are sentenced to death because they promote christianity.

i am not talking about theoretical, idealistic alternatives to the current style of (currupted) democracy, i am talking about real world alternatives, and i don't see any.

these terrorist don't fight for freedom, just look in the countries where terror won: once they gain power, they start to suppress thier poeple even worse than thier former enemies. in many cases you have a new minority suppressing the majority. in few cases you get a government that complies even to our lowest ethic standards.

i am getting in rage again. i just heard too many "the americans deserved it" postings from various sources. each religously motivated group that takes this "You shall have no other gods before me." really seriously in a worldwide fashion is a personal threat to me. and bin laden does.

Hmm...

First off, my heart goes out to the victims of this crime. They were innocent. This means both the people inside the hijacked planes, the tower and surrounding residents and the tourists. They didn't deserve this - it's the worst possible death, by far.

I *despise* terrorism. The terrorist plays God. He is angry - in his eyes, his people are wronged and the world MUST get the message. He can't express the message in words, it has gone on for much too long to do that. I
understand this - but then he should've searched for compatriots who _can_ talk. By inflicting terror, you spawn panic, anger and insecurity - feelings which demand devastating retaliation against you. And that *will* happen.

But now I hear statesmen - the voices of public - tell us that they're going to eradicate terrorism. One could equally claim that we're all going to live a million years. You cannot eradicate terrorism. For terrorism always finds
new methods of inflicting pain. New ways of slaughter. And those will never cease to pop up.

My concern is that the western countries will be going on a witch hunt which they cannot win - governed by emotions, not the human rationale. Although a culprit is slowly emerging, there still is no conclusive evidence.

So let's give this some time and prey that sensible thinking will be done over this. I want to know who did it as bad as everyone else - but only in comfortable certainty that we found the right ones. Therefore, no pointing fingers yet.

But, even if the responsible fraction is found and trampled on sight like the miserable cockroach it is, it will never weigh up to the -surely- thousands of deaths and broken
families those few people caused.

Vince.

PS: And as for Nostradamus, his chants have been recycled and re-interpreted many, many times. It's like saying that there was life on Mars, because you can see "canals" on the surface. The End of Time has been predicted and postponed many times, let's remain realistic here, people.

You can't blame americans for demanding bloodshed, for fighting terrorism like warlords, destroying innocent people and homes at the other side of the planet, where they have nothing to claim, when there are some people killing innocent souls at the heart of their own country.

You can't even blame palaistinians (or whatever) for cheering before thousands of american deaths, driving aircraft into places heavily populated with innocent people, when the american government has delivered death and destruction upon themselves for economical and status reasons for decades...

...after all, none of them can help being human...

"You, humans, are an interesting species... You show your best self when at the hardest times" (Starman)

...and vice versa, I'd like to add.

My species sickens me. Maybe I should give nature a break and start by killing myself.

As anybody here, i feel very affected by these events, and of course quite scared. As i don't want to annoy people with my opinion, or repeat things that have already been told, i'll stop now.

I'll just add this, maybe to try to avoid useless fears ...

Optimus, i really agree with what you said, nevertheless i think the Nostradamus thing was quite useless. Indeed, he said one thing which can relate to the wtc events : "In the City of God there will be a great thunder, Two brothers torn apart by Chaos, while the fortress endures, the great leader will succumb."

The one about the "King of terror" seems to be a mix between real Nostradamus quotes and pure imagination. As for the one about the "third bg war", it simply doesn't exist ! This quote is supposed to date from 1654, and Nostradamus died in 1566.

Please don't believe those stupid hoaxes, they're just sources of unwanted fears.

Btw Nostradamus was french, and as we all know french people just say bullshit ;))

(please no flame i'm french)

Chaos: Ehh... America has been killing so many civilians in other countrys i hardly can say iam sorry that they for the first time in modern time get something "done" in their own country - to their OWN civilians.. But instead about thinking about what their mil. are doing abroad they are gonna do it alot worse...

And also.. How can you know the terrorists didnt do it for freedom? you dont even know who they are .. you silly you
added on the 2001-09-13 07:38:54 by Hatikvah Hatikvah
you mean, to reach out for freedom legalizes to kill as many innocent people as possible? what kind of freak are you? we are talking about terrorism and not about war. hereby terrorism is forced on thousands people. i personally don't care if it happened in nyc, tokyo, moskow or anywhere else so should nobody else.
there is nothing which might gave those terrorists the right to do what they did. let's not start discussing about situations of war. this did not happen to the us military but to people like me and you.
