Sorry, the link above doesn't work if you aren't a member of AVForums, but I am posting the OP of the thread started by a "WilliamBGates", who joined last week, here:
Quote:
Dear Mr. Fisher
I hope you are safe and well
And a very good day to you Sir
I came across your Posting on the Atari Forum 2 to 3 years too late
You replied on my Rescue on Fractalus 3D Engine Thread
I see that you are a very good 3D Fractal Engine Programmer
May I please kindly ask if you are willing to write me a PC Version of the 3D Engine of Koronis Rift
I am willing to pay USD $100 for this Project
All you have to do is write me the "Roaming 3D Engine of Koronis Rift"
I do not need the rest of the "In Game Parts of the Game"
I only wish to have the 3D Engine
If you are willing to take up this Project, We can discuss further the particulars of the Engine
I hope I find you in Great Health and Enthusiasm
I bid you a very good day and a great week ahead
Hope to hear from you soon
Thank you very much for your time and kind help
Kind Regards as Always Sir
William B. Gates
I am not this guy nor Death, and I have no idea why this guy is stalking me.
"William B. Gates". Bill ? is it Bill ? ;-)

I thought his use of single-line paragraphs was strange too, especially the scattered capitalisations.
don't stick your atari in crazy!
I thought of this, too, but isn't that engine in Roots 2.0 based on Rescue on Fractalus? Or is this engine in all three games (Rescue on Fractalus, Koronis Rift and The Eidolon) the same one? I think that might be the case.
Different platform requires different optimizations/tricks, even if the basic principle is the same = multi-octave noise.
sorry for the late reply

I just thought he could write a simple fractal 3D terrain engine for me
that is all
does anyone here knows how to do this?
something like a simple koronis rift 3D terrain engine
with out the sprites or space ships

Quite a lot of people here know how to do it. Doesn't mean they're going to write one for you though :)

I've created a few fractal landscape generators in my time, as far back as on the Amiga (I was particularly proud of using EHB for the shadows) but those versions are lost. However, I do still have my PC landscape generators, as seen in these promotion images here:

I even dabbled with rendering the Mandelbrot Set on the Atari 800XL with Turbo Basic XL back in the day, took ages, but here is a surviving film of it:

To anyone with coding experience, it really is quite easy, and even if you're a newbie to coding, there are many tools out there today to simplify the process.
I see, so that's why you are talking to yourself? Because you fight internally whether or not you should work on this?
Those are all nice attempts. IMHO you should continue and make a small intro/demo out of it. You can do it!

That Death guy is not me, how many more times? :/ I still wouldn't do it, anyway, for anyone.

Thank you. I could release the Neo Geos as they are, isn't there a category for them here? I wouldn't know how to class them, except maybe as "CGI toys".
In the AVForum he offered 100$, here at pouet just 50 bucks. He saw all the scene-stuff is for free and concludes here live the cheapos in the world of code. 😏

Why not. I think you can release it here as retro game (gamedev category) and maybe even add some simple gameplay, just place few static "turrets" that you have to destroy and are shooting in your direction.
There is a Neo Geo Pocket category but no Neo Geo / MVS category. Presumably this is because there aren't enough prods made for it yet. So, feel free to change that situation I guess.

The title Neo Geo on my programs has nothing to do with the gaming platforms, it just means "new world" as I figured that name suited them best. It's just a coincidence.

I would release them as they are, don't really feel like adding simple gameplay to them.

Wow, I never thought about the actual meaning of those words before. That makes total sense.
This was so fun to read. :D

Well, excuse my newcomer status! :)
