Color of the Power-Button-Light on Commodore 1084S Monitor

category: general [glöplog]
What is the color of the Power-Button-Light on the Commodore 1084S Monitor when it’s turned on?

Was it green?

Sadly my old amiga-stuff is at my parents house ... and I don't know if the monitor is still intact. Thats the reason for all these questions.

I found a really practical website called "Google Image Search" (https://www.google.com/imghp?hl=en) where I typed "1084S monitor" followed by enter and as if by magic a bunch of photos showed up where you can see the light is green

It depends on the variant of 1084S. The one in the linked photo has red light, later variants with a different chassis have green light.

@havoc: I used Google ... but absence addressed the problem ... because I found images with red lights and that confused me.

So it seems the original 1084S linked in my first post had a red light.

All of Commodore's known monitors, including all models of 1084, are documented (with photos) here: https://gona.mactar.hu/Commodore/monitor/Commodore_monitors_by_model_number.html

This is gonna be one hell of a retro-cringy wild demo.

I'm guessing a 3D Model for the new Revision compo

Well, this prod was pretty ace!

I'd suggest checking out YT videos of Amiga users showcasing hardware, might give a better glimpse at the monitor lights than a static photo. Like this one for instance.

@SunSpire: Nice link but wrong monitor-edition. Look at the link in my first post.

I'm waiting for a monitor-mod that replaces the LED with a RGB version that cycle through the color spectrum :)

gaspode:

True, it's a different model. (Either there were multiple 1084S out there or someone put a wrong label on it). I had the 1084S model you mentioned way back in the day but didn't notice the difference until you mentioned it.

But you'll also find that this isn't the only monitor video out there ;)

1084

1084 (non-S??)
1084S-P

Looks green to me on the first two and kinda orangey on the 1084S-P.

@SunSpire: Maybe the color depends on the daytime or the weekday. :o)

It's that blue dress all over again!

It's just a mood indicator, red = evilbot inside!

maybe they just took the LEDs which were cheaper to source in the moment they build it, not caring about the colour? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Yeah I've seen geniuses do that with more crucial components, like RAM/Flash/CPUs. Without asking R&D, of course.

First time I've seen a green light on that chassis! While variations apparently occur, red really is the typical colour.

I was gonna check which color mine has, but then remembered the led hasn't worked in years :/

I think we can definitely exclude blue or white as led color here.

It's green, but mine is not on the power button (which is on the back):

There are several models of the (S)tereo version of the 1084 monitor. Normally, the power button on the front has a red LED, but the label on the back may tell whether it's a later D1 model as above, in which case the power button has been moved to the back and the LED is green.

Mine has a green led on the front power button.

Basically there is no such thing as "the Commodore 1084s", there are many different ones sold under the same name (and some sold under different names).
This light is black. Waaaaaaay cool!
