Under Deconstruction 2020 (Reallife, Bingen am Rhein, Germany)
category: parties [glöplog]
As you probably already have guessed, there won't be an Under Construction demoparty this year.
However, we find it unacceptable not to have a RL demo party between christmas and New Year.
The Under Construction, Underground Conference and MountainBytes Orga Teams are now joining forces to try get a final demoparty done this year - "Under Deconstruction".
It's too early yet to announce details or a final confirmation that this really takes place, but the basic "Save the date" facts are: December 27th to 29th 2020, Bingen am Rhein (that's in the Frankfurt am Main region), Germany.
So stop planning spending time with your biological family during that time, but expect to be spending time with the people you REALLY are supposed to love.
Yes, Anti-Corona security measures are highest priority, and will be provided to an extreme level. However, as you are aware, depending on developments of infection rates there would always be the risk of the event getting cancelled last-minute. In our region the infection rates are among Germany's lowest, and the limit for indoor events is set to 75 persons, but both of that could of course change.

Yeah, that´s great news! :-D
...to the choppermine!
well, at least something is happening somewhere, happy to hear that!
sounds good...
...looks better
...and tastes great...
...but how does it smell?!
...as good as it feels!
...and as fine as it stimulates the vestibular system!
...and it teaches you how to drive your car properly!
...the .party makes you happy. It makes you understand.
party. leben.
... great news! ;-)
Corona sucks! ..right now I wouldn't be allowed to go there from Berlin (risk-area!) and sleep in a hotel. Depending on how the situation develops I might not even be allowed to travel there at all 😓
Same here, and I guess this will be true for most other people way before this party's around the corner.
We're just continuing for now, and rather put in some effort and then cancel than not at least attempting and then thinking "Oh snap, this could've worked!".
Christmas is a complete wildcard as of now, we can only wait and monitor the situation.

Berlin a risk area? That´s common knowledge since years...
And I doubt the infection record of a berlin scene event can be topped elsewhere ;P

I'll just spoil this here, so that people facing the "I won't be allowed in a Hotel"-problem understand that there will be options:
We'll basically do an outdoor-party (like Underground Conference), but indoors. The key is space and air ventilation.
This brings us to sleeping: There will be a huge sleeping hall. But it will have airflow and will be damn cold - probably less than 10°C. The idea is that we'll do indoor camping: You bring your own sleeping tent, and set it up inside the sleeping hall. This reduces the amount of aerosols spread massively (as you are exhaling into your tent while sleeping), and combined with the airflow and huge distance between sleeping tents will make the whole thing safe.
Yes, this sounds strange. Camping with a tent inside a HALL during winter? In the end, it's all about creativity.
v3nom: Luckily we still have your sleeping tent in the UC storage IIRC :)

The huge spacing that we'll have (both for mainhall and sleeping hall) also makes sure that the event will be legal, unless Infection rates in our regions cross 50 cases per 100k. We are right now at 25-35 here. Once we pass 35 per 100k we are legally required to have 10qm of hall space per person. We have far more than that. The show-stopper would be having more than 50 per 100k - aka Lockdown.
scamp: cool, that actually makes a lot of sense and sounds like fun! Seems I really need to get my ass down there at christmas! :)
indoor camping sounds like a nice idea!
Will there be a campfire too?
This might sound strange, but that depends on me being able to remove and rebuild a wall and insert a door at the right position before December. Not yet sure if that will work out.
that does sound strange :D
another brick in thee wall :D \o/
