really old school demos

category: general [glöplog]

I'm not really part of the scene but have enjoyed watching demos since my c64 days in the 80's

I found 3 old PET demos lurking around on my HD and thought i would tell ya about them... they run fine in the WinVICE PET emulator with the PET Settings defined as PET 2001-8N. They are coded in BASIC but noticed they weren't here and were older than anything i've seen before (2 going back to 1979).

They can be leeched at:

My dad borrowed a PET for a few months when he wanted to get into computers, circa 1984. He messed me up for life :(

Going back even further, there is a stick figure in graphics mode dancing to Turkey in the Straw that runs on an Apple II -- has a copyright date of either 1978 or 1977, can't remember the name, sorry!

And even further than that, there is the famous Steve Dompier use of an Altair (1975? 1976?) to play music on an AM radio using looping cycles of different lengths.

I've never run a PET program, I can't wait to get home and try these out...

I remember watching this when I was a kid (b: 1971). My first demo! :-)
