Outline Online 2020, Friday May 22nd - Sunday May 24th 2020

category: parties [glöplog]
Sir: The votekeys will be sent out shortly before the party starts. If there's an "X" in the registration list next to your name you can be sure we have matched payment with person and will send the key to the address you registered with. Doing it like that saves a considerable amount of time compared to sending everyone who registers their keys separately, time that we much rather spend on preparing content ;)

Just to be sure, a few more 128-byte questions. :)

C64 entries from previous years have left out the BASIC stub so they require a manual SYS command to run. Is this still allowed?
If so, is the two-byte header with the load address excluded for the size (provided it is not used for any load address tricks)?

looking forward to all the 128b entries =)
just sent mine, it would be nice to receive
a short note when everything runs as intended
and also if not ;)

128b submitted but 256b needs some polishing. Too bad, Lynx limits me to 249bytes.

hahahahaa touché :-)

To be fair I hadn't realized outlinedemoparty.nl is still hosted on a dusty server I control. @havoc I sent you a mail in case I can be of service. Also all good if you already made other arrangements.

Wait the compo deadlines are already on Wednesday? :-O

Maybe this could be mentioned somewhere in a bit more prominent way?

oh right, it's THIS weekend already... ok, that Unity demo won't be finished then :D
Maybe try UE5 instead?
I'd love to see a UE5 demo at Outline. Just because. ^^

Indeed, seems like I'm not contributing any entries :/

The rules on our site say:

"The submission deadline for all entries is Wednesday/Thursday 20/21 May, 00:00."

So not all entries have to be delivered on Wednesday, that's a misconception. Music, graphics and animation entries will be recorded on Thursday and shown on Friday. Photos, Demos and size intros (128b and 256b are official) will be recorded on Friday and shown on Saturday.

We're aware that these deadlines are more strict than usual for Outline and also more strict than the rules Revision Online used. Sorry about that, we're running this party with a very small crew and limited technical means and connections, but we still want to make sure your entries are presented in a correct manner and to do that and to counter our inexperience with organizing online events we decided to implement safety margins in the form of early deadlines.

Having said that, the reason we started this party is to facilitate your releases and other creative output. So if you send us an entry after the deadline, we'll still try to include it in the compo. Just please realize that we cannot give guarantees about this. But obviously we're not gonna start recording those compos a minute after the deadline. So if your entry drops in the next morning and you include a video recording, chances of being shown would still be pretty high. The later in the day you would send your entry, the lower the chance that the compoteam can still include it in the recording.

I hope that makes some sense. :)

oooh!! It's two deadlines?

deadline for music graphics and animation Wednesday NIGHT 00:00
deadline for photos, demos and sizetros, Thursday NIGHT at 00:00

Is that correct?
added on the 2020-05-19 13:03:41 by okkie okkie
That is correct indeed!

Ha, i read it initially as 'the midnight of wednesday TO thursday' this clears it up!

Yeah sorry, that awkward wording was my fault :(. You may now proceed to deliver fuckings in the releases that we eagerly await :)

OFFICIAL STATEMENT FROM THE OUTLINE CEO

I would hereby like to extend my fuckings to the venerable gentleman Hugo van der H., who also goes by the pseudonym "Okkie", on the grounds that he without any argument refused to comply with the polite request of my highly esteemed second-in-command mr Marcel van W., also known as "Alpha C", for fuckings to be directed at him personally in upcoming releases.

I would also like to humbly request our compo participants to preemptively include fuckings directed towards my own person in their prods, for I am bound to screw up at least some elements of the 48h schedule that is coming up. If you are daring enough to release a 128b or 256b and include your fuckings to me and/or Alpha C in the prod itself you will not only earn our eternal respect but also as many "beugels" as you can carry in a single hand without opening them.

Yes, this is still allowed.

Correct, such a header would not be counted towards the limit of 128 or 256b.

Maybe you just provide fucking e-mail for prods submission? Both official web-site and registration form is useless. No one knows where to submit. Think about it.
