Overdoze demoshow Youtube channel
category: general [glöplog]
in a nutshell... i get much more feedback on the fb after a fb video, than after a youtube video. it reaches more people.
Yes indeed with FB you will probably bring a better immediate virality.
YT recommandation algorithm & search can bring some long term trafic also.
If you can post to both it's perfect :p.

Again an inferior capture with a baked-in letterbox when there already is an official one.
And stop trying to submit it instead of the official capture on the Pouet prod page.
again... on the retro pc capture i always want to show, how we watched them in the past. and this is steep, you want to tell me, what and how can i do something on my channel.
i delete them.
i delete them.

Don't forget an important bit: With our intro.
my capture is not your intro.

It's your capture of HIS intro, and you should most definitely respect the wishes of the original author.
listen, the main concept of the channel, to show the most of products, how they looked in the past on a retro machine in a retro form (screen ratio, typical resolution, etc). if the community do not want it, i stop the whole project now. i wont ask every authors, "do you like my capture, or not?".
there are many another 16:9, etc captures, which focuses to the "best reachable quality", and i also planned more versions about the popular products (one a retro look, and one "max quality"), but for me unacceptable to lost the focus over my own channel, because somebody wants something else against the main concept.
i think i respected always the products, put on the youtube the highest possible quality. there are many compromise, what you have to make to reach the best result to get finally a unified channel profile.

The "retro look" was never black borders in all four directions. Baked letterboxing brings no extra authenticity to anyone watching it on a 4:3 screen, it only takes authenticity away from anyone watching it on a wide screen.
arncht: as the guy who wrote the engine under Chaos Theory I can tell you that I put a lot of thought and work into creating the engine in a way that no matter the resolution it will always look the same and hold up the 16:9 aspect ratio. It doesn't matter if your pc is retro or not. If you put letterboxing on it to force it to be 4:3 all you achieve is that in fullscreen on youtube on a 16:9 screen it will have additional letterboxing and just show up as a small image on a larger display. Letterboxing of the content is the responsibility of the player software, youtube in this case, or the engine in the case of the actual demo. Changing the content in the way you did actually results in the opposite of your intent.
How about this: You simply stop capturing / uploading demos that already have perfectly good captures. Saves you a lot of time and potential conflict with the people who have created existing captures. Replacing existing YT links on Pouet should only be taken as a last measure if the provided capture is really bad.
