osu!storyboard = demoscene?
category: general [glöplog]
There's a rhythm game with an unusual gameplay called 'osu!'. The game has four game modes with totally different playing styles, but they're all united by a rhythm component.
But not about that now. osu! supports animated background called 'storyboard'. It's generated from a text file, placing and moving pictures in the desired coordinates in real time. Actually osu!storyboard language is so primitive to write (documentation is available in osu!website tho) and difficult to read due to the large number of objects on the screen at the same time, so there's several libraries for generating .osb (file format of osu!storyboard) based on code from programming languages (like osbpy for Python, generic osu!SB Tool for Java and many other and/or closed libs). There're even some 'engines' for creating simple storyboards like storybrew or Lyric Generator. The only thing you need is pictures you'll put.
Thus, storyboards are scripts (generated from normal programming langs) that places pictures in the desired coordinates in real time. Is osu!storyboard = demoscene?
Examples:
Panda Eyes - ILY | storyboard by Smau5 | osu! | youtube | very generic storyboard made with storybrew (afaik)
Kana Nishino - Sweet Dreams (11t dnb mix) | storyboard by Storyboarder | osu! | youtube | not so generic but nice looking storyboard with accent to lyrics (warning! japanese vocal!)
Nekomata Master - Sayonara Heaven | storyboard by ??? | osu! | youtube missing | not so generic but neat looking storyboard with accent to effects and scrolling pictures
NOMA - Louder Machine | storyboard by Exile- | osu! | youtube | complicated and very demo'ish storyboard

p.s. yes i'm weeaboo (not really)
This is an awesome find, and I'd certainly consider these demos, or at the very least "realtime motion graphics".
same

it will be as soon as someone makes a demo about it(tm)

I remember some prods that were done in a similar style - like some of Husvagn Crew's works.

xDDDDDD
Actually that's a question. Can someone make a demo about a thing that could be a demo?
This is also a quite well-known one: Mili - world.execute(me) | Storyboard by Exile- | osu! | youtube
I have also make one some time ago, purely to make something that looks like a demo (using a few elements inspired from demos), it's not even a decent osu! map, it's purely a storyboard:
youtube | osu!
Partly made while I was at Solskogen18 ;-)

What Havoc said.
That said, someone recently showed me some of that, and I felt it had quite a demo-ish vibe. It's definitely possible to make something that would be qualify as an interactive (wild) demo.

Yes, I know this one but it looks mostly ugly. Well, i prefer Louder Machine more.

Very nice! Was it released or at least shown anywhere? I can't find it on Solskogen 2018 releases list.

Thanks! Not released at a party, I was just (slightly) working on it while at Solskogen. I wasn't sure if it would fit in Wild (or how to even explain what it is in a composlide) and I barely go to parties so I just uploaded it to osu website and published the video.
not as good as penis demotool but close enough!
