[offtopic] Where/How to register an .an domain
category: general [glöplog]
Hello everybody.
I would like to register an .an domain, and searched the web for an site to do so. My problem is that i don't understand dutch but the .an domain belongs to the neatherlands.
I also don't know if i have to be from neatherland to register it.. (i'm from germany)
Could perhaps anyone who speaks dutch help me to register it? That would be great!!

yeah, the german wikipedia says that it belongs to the neatherlands:

".an - Niederländische Antillen"

my second firstname (<-- haha, is this the correct term?) is Adnan, it would be nice to have the domain adn.an for my website, bcos every combination of my other names (Philipp Eckert) is already taken..
btw word game...

As far as I can tell individuals can't register there own .an name, only organisations and companies which are located and registered on the Dutch Antilles can register the domain. So you will probably need to find a registrator who will register it on there own name on your behalf, but you won't own the domain.
I used to want one for obvious reasons, but last time I checked you had to be a resident of the Netherlands Antilles.
domains are overrated
http://www.una.an/an_domreg/reglement.asp (in dutch :))
as sparcus correctly states, just being a resident of the dutch antilles wouldn't be enough, you'd have to have a registration at the chamber of commerce there too.
as for registering such domains, i might know a way... but don't expect it to work for gruesse.an/venomsoup or whatever :)
