Landmark 2.0 & 6.0 are available from TopBench page, Norton Sysinfo & CheckIt are interesting too, don't know if the run on 8088 .. found the Schneider OEM Msdos 3.3 image at Winworldpc homepage .. long time ago I really wanted to have an Euro PC, but never got one .. will try to do some prods for it, since it's a nice well defined system .. virtually I added an Adlib soundcard to the expansion slot ..

compared today PCem Schneider Euro PC with a result from topbench and some other 8088 machines for which you find some Landmark benchmarks in the internet .. seems that pcem v13 is about 25% faster than the real machines ..

cool .. hm with PCem Landmark 6 shows the same result for CPU speed, which is a very accurate result! .. but chr/s is about 1049 chr/s while your machine has only 700 chr/s .. is it anything about hercules and cga?

would be nice to see, if the benchmark results keep the same on different machines of the same type ..

after a lot of time and quite hard work, I managed to finish a new intro for i286, this time pure textmode ...

basically it makes use of the programmable character definitions that was introduced with EGA if I remember correctly .. interestingly enough, this function never seems to have been used in intros for realtime effects .. it's very limited, but some effects, i.e. Star fields and a lot of dot based effects are possible ..

Yo! by Future Crew from 1990 and my own 4k from 1995 uses textmode with a modified font. I also wrote a couple of BBS intros which changed the font and did some experiments that never ended up in anything.

ah, okay, couldn't believe that nobody tried that before .. and there is a small Demo in the famous book "PC Intern" by Michael Tischer ...

that's pretty cool, using wireframes was my first idea ... there are more prods using the char gen than I thought .. it's like in science - if you think you have a new idea, it's often just a lack of knowledge of literature :)
